Colors changing...and other blonde ramblings.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I know one of the neatest things, when you are new to brugs or have a new brug, is playing the guessing game of what color they will be or thinking you have a white and it turns pink or a yellow that turns peach, etc. The other day I was standing outside being fascinated by it so I took pics. LOL

Here we are on day one. The buds on the left say yellow. The ones opening in the center say white. But there is one flower on the right that says pink.

Walking sticks like brugs.

And as you can see from the holes in the leaves and flowers in all my pics, the cucumber beetles think they taste pretty good!

What a great show and lovely brugs. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your new home.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Great news on the new place, what fun you and the family will have!! Your brugs are wonderful and it's good they are in pots, just pack them up and off you go. How far is the new home from where you are now?? And, how long before you move, and, one last question, will the kiddos be going to a different school??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

OMG! This didn't even show that it had any replies. I thought I had bored you all to tears. :)

Gabby, according to the stretch marks (sort of like rings on a tree), I have six kids. LOL If they get out of line, I have decided the perfect punishment would be to give them each a pair of scissors and make them go trim their own acre! hahahahaha

Carol, I posted a weird caladium in tropicals and left a little chuckle for you. Go see if you like the pic.

Sherry, it is only about 50 minutes from door to door. I am hoping as soon as everything is done, to run out to the other house, rip out the LR carpet, clean up the house and repaint the whole inside. Then we can move the necessities there, clean up this house then start on the plants. LOL We decided it would be easier to start the kids at this school and go to the other house on the weekends until almost everything is done, then switch. They want to go to the new school right away but it would be so much harder. I think it will be easier to leave them here with their old friends while we are going through all the hassle.

Whew, I'm already exhausted, quite a job, but, been there, done that, and I'd do it again in a flash, I love moving and 'starting over', so to speak. Only thing is, I never finish, everything I do is a project in progress, lol!! I dunno about the kids and changing them in school, you have to do what you have to do, and, after all, you have six, so it's not like they will be lonely. Please take before and after photos of all of everything, you know how much we luv photos - I hope the weather accommodates your plans, not too hot, not too cold. Good Luck and have lots of fun!!!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice pics and you'll be happy and relieved when you're finally there. I would vote for letting the kids start in their new school rather than leaving friends behind and being the new kid after school already started. Worked for me in '94.

love to move Really? I dislike the idea of moving so much!! I'll probably continue to "settle" for this little lot and IL bloated taxes and cost of living just so I don't have move. I'll move the water; move to the shade if it's too hot; move a plant now and then move real fast when loading the fridge with fresh drinks. Here's a state to state snail trail from highschool to retirement.

OMG!! I'm exhausted and must take a nap, lol, whew!!

Okay, Chele, I agree with Blaine, and it's absolutely none of my business and i do not mind being told so, but I'd start the kids in the new place too. It's tough enough changing schools and doing it after school starts seems like it would be even more difficult. What do the kids want to do??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, since you two are voting, let me give you the rest of the facts. LOL

PLAN 1
If they start at the new school right now, oh, by the way, it starts tomorrow and we don't have the house yet. LOL One would get on the bus about 8am and 3 would get on another bus after 9. I could then leave that house around 9:30 and drive an hour to get to this house by 10:30. The one that goes to school earlier also gets off earlier. I would probably have to leave here about 1pm to make sure I am back there around 2. That means, toting a 1 and 3 year old, I have roughly 2.5-3 hours to get things done at this house, before and after driving an hour each way, in two seperate cars so hubby can go to work and I can go back to the other house. Then, do I drive back here after school to work more and run back in the morning or spend the night at the other house and run back here for my 2.5 hours of work again WITH the two little ones? Did I mention gas is $2.69/gallon right now? LOL

PLAN 2
Live in this house during the week and finish up the big stuff and digging up plants then spend weekends at the other house getting the beds ready and making sure everything is ready to go. Then we can get this house on the market and get the heck out of here! School starts here on the 23rd.

I can't answer for all kids, but my kids are always looking for the *new*. They know nothing about the other school and love their school here but all of the sudden, they want to go to the other school. It's a grass is always greener thing with mine and they don't even know why they think it would be any better. LOL

Would you two like to rethink your vote or come live in one of the houses to make it easier??? :)

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Whatever you do, I'm sure it will work out fine!! It sounds like you have a terrific family and I wish only the best for all!! Make some great memories!!!

Oh I agree and am behind you 100 percent in whatever path you take.
When I bought this house I had 4 kids in school and a preschooler. The house wasn't even built yet but since I had the contract, the new district let me enroll. I was changing duty stations and took 30 days vacation. So every morning I'd get 'em up at 04:30 fed and loaded in the back of the truck in a pile of mattress, pillows and blankets (there was a cap). They were in 4 different schools that started at 3 different times. So I'd drop off the first, drive by the construction site then gradually drop off the others and of course the schools were spread out. Me and the little one would stop for Mickey D's. Go home then start the trip again at 2:30pm. The oldest 3 were at least able to ride a bus to a friend's house and I'd pick them all up at once. Did that till we moved in 10/28. You've got even further to drive though.

Good luck!!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I just realized it is the 18th. LOL School started at the other school today. Technically, we still don't even own the house. We have to wait on the appraisal and inspections. If for some reason the purchase would fall through, I'd look a little silly carting my kids an hour to drop them off at a school they may not even go to. LOL

Blaine, I sure don't know how you did it! I am not that insane. :)

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Yep, of course, you are making the right decision!!! And, it appears to be the only way you can do it. I'm so glad you are enthusiastic and in good health. I did not realize how easy I had it until I saw my son/wife, daughter/hubby, manage their kids, and now you with yours - all that traveling. I help with my grands and drive them to and fro, especially on weekends to give the parents some free time, and, I love it and have great fun, but I'm grateful it's not a full time job, lol. But, Chele, you must keep us informed, just in case you need more advice, hahaha!! And, we still need the photos, so we can 'help' you some more...

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

I had good incentive. I couldn't stand the thought of them going back into the North Chicago schools. So sad and so bad. So it turned out to be 60 miles a day but you know how it is. Gotta do right for the kids.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I totally understand where you are coming from! Things here won't get bad until we finish the school year. After this year, my eldest, about to turn 12, will have to ride a regular Metro city bus to the other side of town (with adults travelling to jobs and such) to one of two schools. The best one, you have to test into and the other is where everyone else ends up attending. Even if safe in school, I don't hear that you are once you set foot off school grounds. I won't do it!! Had this house not come along, we would definately have move by next summer.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Cool little chain of events, badseed (I always get a 'kick' out of seeing your username!)...fun watching that!
So the color *was*unknown to you, until it 'said' PINK?
(Guess my brain couldn't process that...)

I think you chose the right way around the 'school thing', too....whew!
Sounds like you're a busy one!
Good luck in your move into your new home.
Are you planning to start a business, eventually? (Thought I'd read that on another thread, somewhere?)

Man, Blaine...no wonder you don't mind 'road trips'....you must get restless after all that movin' around!!

You guys are makin' me tired!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Aw geez, there was one mini cruise made off the east coast commonly referred to as a beer-run. We'd cast off lines and take a quick 3 month jaunt across the Atlantic and make several stops in places like Spain, Germany, Scotland, Amsterdam... that area... then beat feet back before 180 days. After 180 days we started collection separation pay.
