Vinca For Trade or Postage - - Groundcover

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Putting this on hold for a few days to recover from the birth of my grandkitties!
Will update when I'm ready to dig up more.
Dark green leaves, 1 1/2 inch purple flowers in the spring & early summer, sometimes fall. Sorry the pic is bad, but it looks like pretty much all vinca minor. Evergreen in my zone. Spreads by runners. Mounds up, surpresses weeds. Covers slopes, looks fantastic with spring bulbs & hides browning foliage well. I grew daffodils, tulips, Iris, and Glads in with it.
I have become addicted to daylilies and need the space for 64 that just arrived and need a place to go!
POSTAGE: I'm figuring I could send out at least 6 Flat Rate USPS boxes stuffed full of rooted pieces for $7.70 plus .45 for delivery conf. if wanted. All pieces will have rootsystems intact and be trimmed to 12 inches of 'vine' or less. About 4 pounds fit in a FR USPS box.
TRADERS: I wouldn't mind trading for any of the following: box of non purple Iris, pretty Daylilies or new daylily seedlings or fancy cross seeds, Heucheras, Bulbs (especially muscari, large flowering alliums, daffodils, tulips, well you know...) of any sort except lightbulbs. I would also like to try Brugs, don't have any yet, so cuttings of nice ones would be cool and large flowering mum cuttings.
Anyone interested, post here please, or DGmail me with trade offers.

Oh, guess I should say this is also called Periwinkle.
I would also be interested in cuttings of Sensation Lilac and cuttings of Hydrangea that tend to bloom in multi colors.

I dont have anything on your list but would do a box for postage if you dont get any traders. Thanks

I'd love to trade for postage.

I also have a few daylilly seed pods I'd add with it. I'd post pics of the parent plants but the camera has gone missing. I'll try to dig it up if you'd like to see them. I still have a few blooms on my daylillies. I just hope they don't stop before I find that darn camera.

If no, than not problem. My garden is still young and I can't split plants for at least another year, but I'd be glad to send the seeds even if you find a better trade.

How difficult is it to confine vinca to a large bed? I have a bunch of iris rhizomes to plant in a new bed area, and I don't mind some runnering beyond the bed, but I have visions of it taking over the garden like running bamboo.... ?

If it's not terribly agressive that way, than it may be the perfect thing to plant amont all my new irises! I had originally thought of putting bachelor buttons with them, but then discovered that irises shouldn't be mulched, which means that I have to use some sort of germination inhibitor on the bed or be forever pulling weeds. So, there went the idea of bachelor buttons that could reseed themselves each year!

I'm on light duty -- no digging in the garden -- at least until my pregnancy test next week and probably (hopefully) for a couple of weeks after that. If you need to dig them soon, I could pot them up for a bit, but I wouldn't mind waiting either. BTW, congratulations on the new kittens! What a joy!

I'd be happy to send postage, but I may be able to find a couple of other things you'd like. I got a rhizome of 'Apparant Secret', a new variety of TB iris, at a local iris society sale. I thought I'd like the yellow & purple color combination, but I just didn't get excited about it when I looked up the pictures once I got home.... It's a stunning flower, but I think I'm just unenthused about adding any more gold to my garden. So, that one is available. I also have an extra white one, and I know I've got 5 smaller unknown iris rhizomes that were a bonus.

LMK about the relative invasiveness of the vinca, as well at what you think of 'Apparant Secret', http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/60005/
