My seed grown baby with three blooms... there were actually 5 open on it today, but these were in perfect alignment for a picture lol.

Lovely, how many months from seed to bloom? Thanks

Are you having trouble with the heat and subrotunda? I started to get onebut thought it looked like it might not be happy in the 90s-80s.

Well, not quite a year to bloom from seed. It was started last September. As for the heat, it doesn't seem to mind, there are four more flowers open today.

Thank you!

That's a great color. I shure would like one. Is it a huge vine--it looks huge.

It's not huge by my standards, it's in a 36 inch pot growing on a round cage that I made out of concrete reinforcing mesh. The cage is about 5 feet tall and stuck into the pot, so the whole pot/cage combo is about 7 feet tall, and about 3 feet wide. Some of the tentacles have escaped from the cage though and are growing into my aristolochia vine on the fence next to it. I guess I could untangle the whole thing and get it back where it belongs, but this far into the year I might as well wait until I have to bring it in for the winter.

Here's the whole thing... it has a few more blooms today but you can't really see them in this pic. There's also a brugmansia growing in the pot with it sticking out through the cage.

It is a fine looking vine. You have a great idea for a trellis. I have had no luck with alata and purple tiger so I hesitate when I see the square stem and large oval leaf. Can you grow alata?

Great job!

I have a huge alata growing on the same kind of trellis. This will be it's third year, 2nd with blooms, or so I'm hoping. Last year it didn't start blooming until October, so I have a while to wait yet. This pic is of alata blooming last year, 10/12.

That is one of the most impressive of the passiflora. Are the fruit any good? I wish I could figure out why I can't grow them. It isn't the weather. Alata-caerulea gets huge here. Go figure.

It has yet to produce and fruit, and I doubt that they would have time to ripen before it got too cold anyway:-( From bloom to first frost it would have had 2 months, 2 weeks (or so) if it had fruited last year, but I'm not sure how long they take to ripen. Anyone know just out of curiousity?
