I have this EE and I don't remember the name of it could someone help me out. The leaves are thick and shiney. They are close to being black. Sorry for the picture but we are getting some long over due rain. Everybody and everything loves it First rain in more then a month, maybe even longer.

Thanks for any help.

Looks like alocasia plumbea to me. Black stemmed and an upright??? If so, that's probably it.
Maybe ely will come along and tell you for sure.

What do the backs of the leaves look like?

I'd agree w/ plumbea also.
There are a couple of named cultivars making the rounds now like 'Nigra' and 'Green' .

Be advised though that once they go dormant it takes a blowtorch to get them back up.

They are always the last to re-emerge.
Sometimes 6 weeks after the others.

I luv the color on the back of the leave.

Thanks Donna. Ric I agree with the blowtorch, I had this one and my Black Magic in the house last winter, and they went dormant I thought they were dead. But about April I moved them to a south window and started watering and feeding with MG liquid and finally I saw a sprout on each.

From what I've read, many Alocasias are from the Phillipines which has a dry season that runs from December through March. Makes me think going dormant is normal part of their life cycle.
