how do I get rid of mealybug eggs?

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

After discovering a large colony of my cactus (reminds me of broccoli), I got out the q-tips and rubbing alcohol. I dabbed for quite a while and then repotted the soil so try and get rid of any that fell into the soil. I have no doubt that there are eggs left. How do I get rid of those?

I had some on my mandevilla. I couldn't get rid of them. I finally used the Bayer Shrub and Tree systemic. I just watered with it once and they were gone!! It lasts up to a year.

Hi Kell. I have some of that and called Bayer and asked them if this would work for cactus or succulents and they said no. :( Has anyone ever tried it for these guys?

That is interesting. Did they say why it wouldn't? I wonder if you sprayed with Neem if it would suffocate them. I can't remember if mealy bug is on the label.

Is there a cactus forum on Dave's? They should know what works well on cactus. Have you asked over there?
