Anyone have white liaris for postage or trade?
Kathy
Looking for white liaris -
I have a few white and an aboundance of the purple. They are both in flower now. Would you like me to send you some seed? I planted the white from seed last fall and are smaller plants but could send you a plant intead if you like.
I just wrote a long message - then the computer froze up !
I didn't know the liaris grew so well from seed - the only seed I'm good at is zinnia, corn, green beans ! lol
I would love to try them, IF, they are easy. Do they basically self seed each year? I would love to have plants if you want to trade/postage them. I have, remaining to trade, sedum (several), cleome seed (white when they dry) and hopefully I'll be able to pull off rooting climbing hydranga. A DG gardener said to cut the new stalks (which i have TONS of) and put them in rooting horemone. I'll give that a try maybe this -p.m. let me know which method you prefer.
Kathy - thanks again for the reply.
They don't have to be planted each year because they form small corms and liatris is easy to grow.
I'd love to trade for the climbing hydrangea. I tried to get a piece to root a few years ago with no luck. Hope you have better luck. If not maybe a sedum. Since the liatris was started from seed instead from corms so they are smaller. I have a purple variety that in two years 1 corm grew a clump about a foot wide. Would you be interested in any seed from the purple as well? I always have an abundance.
It's the truth: once you have it growing well it gets taller and wider each year. It also will self seed quite well.
The purple liaris I have has done so well and I love it. I wanted to try white for that cooler summer color - maybe that's because it's 99 degrees in the shade lately. I didn't get the cuts from the hydranga this evening - sun stroke i think....but I have bunches to try and will gladly send you some even it the liaris doesn't work out.
Pirl - I realize they come back from corms each year but the seed thing has me puzzled. I need to read up on this. I wonder how many are successful from the seed. I guess I'm confused, but again, I've spent to many hours outside today. The seed produces corms?
