This little plant just started to bloom for me, I started it from a cutting last fall and its putting on a show already. Just thought I would share with you all.
Ric
Hoya braviolata
Hey, Ric...great photo!!!! How does it smell? They DO love being outside, don't they!!! I am convinced it is the airflow and openness of the environment....

Ric,
Thanks for posting the pic. It is beautiful. Looks like another one to add to my "want list". I love the look of the plant and leaves. If it smells as good as it looks, it will be on my "have to have list" The sign of a true addict is when there are several different lists going on!! LOL

Wow, Ric. What a pretty little hoya. Thanks for sharing. Gives us newbies hope that we could see blooms within a year. :)
I've never heard of this hoya before. However, I've heard of a H. brevialata. Are these the same? Anyone who knows?
Christina
Ric that's a nice looking flowa, I can't wait for mine to bloom!!

Lets just say its smell is not as pretty as it looks. It has to be the stinkyest hoya I have ever smelled lol. It has a kind of roting fruit smell. Hey at least its not a voodoo lily.
Christina.....your spelling is probably correct. I think that is what it is H. brevialata.
Hi, I have that one blooming and it smells good, like butter scotch! :)
Cindy
Humm.........Cindy maybe the cool weather up in WA makes it smell better?? I wish mine smelled like butterscotch.
Wish mine would grow. I've had a small pot of H. brevialata for two years and don't think it's put out one new leaf. Ric, is this a fast or even good grower for you?
NightBloomer, Its not one of the fastest growers......but it got that size in one year and I started it from a four node cutting. On thing about this hoya is that it like sun. Give it plenty of morning sun and see what happens.
Ric thanks for the tip on it enjoying the sun, I'm on my way to the greenhouse to do some re-arranging :-).
Blessings,
Awanda
Could be Rick, it gets down in the 50's at night but is in the 80's and 90's during the day in the green house. I also have one I left in the house that is blooming, smells the same; maybe it's are sniffers that are different?something, huh! :)
Cindy
Sun, duh! I never thought of that. It looks so delicate. I'm going to move it out from under the overhang and see what happens. Thanks for the tip as I have obviously not been giving it what it wants.
Susan
Mine blooms a lot...I like the smell. It hangs outside...10" of rain last week due to a storm and we are behind in rainfall!!! So..water it a LOT!! ;>)
Ok.....my olfactory nevers must be off. I had some friends over and they liked the smell. And as Cindy wrote, they agreed it smelled like butterscotch. I promise not to report on hoya scents with first consulting others. ")
Ric...I forgot to mention that mine lives under a tree with late afternoon 'light'....it is huge.
Beautiful, it looks so dainty. I got one labeled brievilata, from Home Depot, ya right. I think mine is actually an incurvula. Add another one to the list!
Heather
