autumn crocus- colchicum

Sandpoint, ID

Does anyone have autumn crocus available for trade or sale? I have been having the hardest time finding any.

check out the blooming auctions site. I bought some there (at a fixed price) and they are quite nice and I received them last month so they are available. If you don't find them email me and I will tell you the exact seller. I don't have it handy right now.

Thanks so much- I will check it out.

I checked and it looks like the seller that I bought from doesn't have any up. I will check with her if I still have her email address.

I contacted the seller and there should be some posted now at that site.

I'm planning to get a few autumn crocus and colchicum from Brent&Becky's. Their prices are pretty reasonable and they have a really good selection.

If you want to consider ordering from the UK check out Paul Christian rare plants - they have a web site at www.rareplants.co.uk - they have a great range of unusual bulbs.

I checked out the rare bulbs site- absolutely amazing- it will prove to be useful but the prices are a little high for me- over $5.00 a bulb on average- however, great site. Thanks. I did find some reasonably priced autumn crocus on the The Lily Auction site.

I'll add a question here - does anyone let these bloom without soil? I got some cheap ones last year that had already bloomed without soil and potted them up, now it looks like they have sort of divided into smaller bulbs. Any tips on whether that's a good idea and how to handle them after?

most bulbs offshoot after blooming, wait until they're about half as big as the mother bulb and then pop them off and send them to me! haha just kidding, but you can leave them on the bulb and they'll bloom next bloom season. you might want to give it some bloom boost fertilizer first, but either way they should survive.
