Rosamond x Dr. D

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Rosamond x Dr. D is Poppysue's baby. These are some of it's first buds that will be opening soon.
What color do you think it will be? Would someone please touch this picture and put a pink curse on this plant? If it's white I will scream :)

What color is Dr. D? I don't know why but I was thinking yellow? I think you'll get some shade of orange. lol...what do I know? eh? But that's I think....whatever it turns out Vicki, it's gotta be beautiful with the traits (genes) of these two guys.

You gotta pic of Dr. D?

P.S. Sending pink thoughts your way.....lol

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Thank you for your pink thoughts!

I've only seen Dr. D in pictures. He looked pink to me. Dr. Seuss x EP
Thru Rosamond and Dr. Seuss there's alot of suaveolens blood in this cross and suaveolens crosses in my hands are normally always white :(.
I'm praying that Rothkirch and EP will take control and this one will be deep pink. ... on my knees begging please please please do not be white!

On the edge of my seat .....*twiddling fingers* *crossing fingers* Oh the anticipation! lol!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Not only is it white but it is a dork on top of that! The calyxes are too long. Dadburn it! These are not the true flowers, These are not the true flowers, These are not the true flowers, They will turn into double pinks by morning, They will turn into double pinks by morning, They will turn into double pinks by morning!

I hate brugs!

My goodness, I've never seen a calyx that long, she looks like she is blooming outta a burp-less cucumber, lol!! Do NOT give up on her yet, this could be great, and the calyx is a pretty green and looks so healthy. I cannot wait to see what she does - this one is really interesting, regardless of what happens. Good luck!!!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Vicky,

Don't give up until it's over......

It is now pink and dorky! I'll get a pic when daylight comes.

I love brugs!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

It's growing on me! I'm gonna plant this one in my yard and give her the full evaluations treatment. My own very first hybrid (white of course) was a dork at first flowers but she grew to be a very nice looking brug. She was not dorky forever.

Pink & dorky, LOL! How does it smell?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

It smells beautiful and strong. I stumbled around in the dark this morning and brought the pot in to my screened porch about 4:30 this morning. I drank my coffee and watched her get pinker and pinker and I thourouhly enjoyed her fragrance! It has been such a beautiful morning at my house today! Poppysue .... Thank you!

Ashton, IL(Zone 5a)

I love the ones with the strong fragrance. I'm glad there's not such a thing as a brug tax, because we have riches beyond compare! shhh - don't tell Uncle Sam.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Ain't that the truth!?!

If this one stays dorky but thrives and flowers great in my environment I just might name it. 'Dora Key' sounds good. :) ... look out ebay! rofl

Petersburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Dora Key- LOL
That's funny!!
But serious , the flower is pretty, different.
If you do not like her after all is said and done,
there will be people who will.Everyone has different tastes,
surely 'shredded white' got lots of groans at first.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I love shredded white!

I will eventually have others to trial it in their environment too. In truth I love the way it looks. It doesn't bother me for it to look like this always. As long as it can withstand this FL environment it will be a keeper forever.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It reminds me of the old Poodle Skirts. Does that give away my age or what? LOL! I like it Vicki. I've always liked the long calyxes.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh I really really like it! it's gorgeous!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I like it too! Sure is different from others! Congratulations on a not white bloom!!!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Thank you! :)
I put her in the ground today. She looks pretty beside my dwarf purple and pink crepe myrtles.
She hasn't really done much changing today. About the same as she was this morning.
