I have a 3 year old Peaches & Cream, that is so lush & gorgeous - However, I have yet to see any blossoms. I fertilize just like I do with my other Brugs, but this is the one that will not show me her stuff. It is about 5 feet tall, & bushy with 3 main stems. Are some varieties more difficult to bloom than others? I can't wait to see this one blossom - but it is not cooperating! Any ideas?
Thanks - Julie
Peaches & Cream Blossoms
Julie, I have the dickens of a time trying to get mine to bloom too..Do you have it in a pot?..move it to another location..I did mine and its doing alot better...just find the right combo of light watering and fertilizer..lolol..P and C is picky to me....sounds like a song...lolol..good luck and keep posting on its progress..any help is appreciated here...Judy
Probably wrong but I'd guess it's in shade or very limited direct sunlight.
A variegated in a container was lush with big leaves and budded up. But only the side that got some sun. The same plant in ground of course was bigger and has had 3 flushes. It's planted along an east wall. The foliage has been equal around the plant but it doesn't bloom on the side next to the wall. In the morning sun it's naturally shaded but after 12, the whole plant is in shade. The one planted out where it basically gets sun on all sides... blooms on all sides. Other plants will do the same thing. They may have plenty of foliage and be healthy but will not bloom without enough sun
So really, what kind of sun does it get?
I have it is direct sun for most of the day, until about 3PM. However, the tall Cannas that have sprung up in front of my Brugs may very well be shading it more than I realize! I lopped off most of the lower leaves of the Cannas to allow sunlight into the shorter plants in the garden, but I didn't think about the Brugs behind them - we shall see if the move will help the blossoming. Thank you so much for the info - I really can't wait to see this one bloom someday!
well along with the necessar sun... full long and direct in this area... don't discount the heat here latly things that were blooming away have taken to a bit of rest here... they do seem to like it a bit cooler than what we've been seeing.. peaches and cream is usually a strong bloomer for me... but it's resting in the heat... I will keep trying - it is my most lush Brug at this point.
