Has anyone had any problems with squirrels eating Epi's?? I had a Epi cutting hardening off on my front porch ( with all the other Epi's and Schlumbergera's) and it just disappeared. Also had several braches of a Schlumbergera broken off. No other damage to the other plants.

Squirrels having a snack....
Eric, I've had a major problem within the last couple of weeks, of the chipmunks munching on my succulents. They are having a feast on my hawarthias and....well....anything in reach. ARGH!!!
OUCH !! That hurts! Especially new cuttings. I haven't had any problems with squirrels but I have to watch what pots of plants I leave on the ground. My ducks like to get in the wet soil and dig !!
my peacocks love pecking at mine
this year I got them out of reach of curious beaks
OH, I love the peacocks !! I think it is funny having to "critter proof plants" as if we don't have enough problems with spider mites, scale, and other nasty things!!
If it gets too bad...I might have to get out some squirrel recipes...lol
Put some like fake owl to scare them!
There is a gal on another forum who built a whole big outside cage to house all her plants because the critters kept eating and knocking over all her plants. It was amazing looking.
Marcy
that's me!!
And here is the cage, it works!! No squirrels, no rabbits chomping on my plants in this set up! Anything else just simply doesn't work for long. The squirrels used to operate in tandem with the rabbits, the squirrels dropped the pots/uprooted plants from the tables, the rabbits said thank you and ate the stuff.

That is a lot of work to critter proof your plants!! I have to admire you for that. Now what do you do in the winter?
Or is your house like mine a " greenhouse" that I am living in. LOL
Karen
Karen,
nice DH built that for me. The cage had a previous life as a tool bin in the basement of a building which was demolished. I really like the whole set up!
In Fall all of these plants go back into the greenhouse ( attached to the house), sunroom and living room. I sure hope they fit....everything grew a lot over the summer.
