Hi everyone,
I am running a poll on when peopl prefer to prune thier plumerias. Obviously if you accidentally break a branch, that is not your preference, Email me with your answer off line at plumerialady@swbell.net
I prefer to prune in the Spring.
I prefer to prune in the fall/winter before dormancy.
Thanks so much!
Paula
Poll: When do you prune your plants?
Paula, maybe they could post here too? It's a very interesting question for a newbie who's always looking to learn something new.

I'm afraid I don't have enough experience to answer this question as I have never had a plumie big enough to prune! But I do prune some of my other garden trees, plants, and shrubs in late winter/early spring before new growth has begun and as needed throughout the summer.
Mine aren't big enough to prune either.
Still waiting for some replies...
Thanks
Paula
I prefer not to prune mine.
I guess I should hagve re-phrased the question...
If you live in a climate where you must prune your plants, when do you prefer to do it?
We are not all as lucky to live in climates where you never have to prune them since they are left in the ground all year long. That would be my dream situation!!

Paula, this is my first year for Plumies and I'm so excited about them! My next door neighbor has a "forest" of them of every color you can imagine. I just hang over the fence and drool. He doesn't prune, but when a branch gets broken off, he just sitcks it in the ground and it grows. Sadly he doesn't share. *sigh*. But I still get to enjoy them over the fence.

I have always cut my Celadine 'Big Momma' in the early winter while she was in dormancy.
The cuttings took forever to root and I had only 'on the fly' experience.
After having discussed this with a few 'pros' I have decided to cut them in the spring as the new leaf claws appear. Then it should be easier to root them also.
I live in Philadelphia PA. I greenhouse my basement every winter, lots of bright light and a fair amount of heat 70-80 degrees. We have very hard winters most years and a semi short hot season so I try to keep em all going through the winter to get an early jump on the potential for blooms.
Great thread Paula!! ;)
