Is it possible to root hibiscus cuttings? I received three of them through the mail and not sure if I should just keep them inwater or would soil be better. Thanks for any help, Doris
rooting cuttings
You might try this link for info Doris,

I've tried this on a few limbs that were broken from hardy hibiscus and had no luck with putting them in a baggie. Right now I'm trying a couple of limbs in water with a bubbler. I have not roots showing yet but they've sprouted leaves at the top that look promising.
The Bubbler info is discussed in the Brug Forum.....
Good luck and keep us posted maybe you can add some tips on where I'm going wrong with sticking them in dirt in a baggie ......
Doris,
Please take a look over here at Artcons methods. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/525641/
He has had a great deal of success with the coke bottle terrariums. The only thing that I would suggest if he hasn't, do the trial and error thing. Hardwood cuttings and green cuttings may need to be treated differently, one from the other.
This is just one other method for you to consider.

:^)))
I have rooted about 4 in the last month and I went with just placing them in a glass of spring water with a bubbler and in 3 weeks they were putting on roots.

Linda,
Did you have new leaves show up before any roots ...? I have nice new leaves but no roots.....
Before I started rooting I removed all the leaves except for 2 or 3 at the very top. Any time a new leaf started I pinched it off. Didn't want all the nutrient going to the new leaf, only to the starting of roots.
Linda
Sounds like I better go pinch some leaves.......
Molly, thanks so much for telling me about Arts method. It sounds easy enough. I have the cuttings in water, but I plan on putting them under a coke bottle. 3 of the cuttings are varigated so I am anxious to see if they will grow!
