Anyone ever tried a solar tube for light

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Was driving home and noticed that a neighbor was having a solar tube installed in their garage. Has anyone ever tried one of them - does it put out enough light for growing. We don't have many cold days, and just a few nights with frost every year. I'm just looking for an excuse not to drag plants in and out every day depending on the weather. I did that with my first brug, but now that there's 12 of them it'd get old fast. We did install a solar tube in a dark corner of the house and it's real nice but I don't know if it'd be enough. Don't want mine to go dormant since I got such a late start on many of them.

I do not know, Mary. I use cool and warm fluorescent lights, and the brugs love it.

Mary, I have seen the solar tubes you are talking about installed in a friends house. Indeed it did lighten up that dark corner of the home. I don't believe you would get much benificial light from it for plants though. That is just my observation.
