CLOSED: Have: Gaillardia/Blanket Flower

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

I have one good size trade of Gaillardia/Blanket Flower available. Mine grows about a foot tall.....no taller. Photo #1 is the blooming plant. Photo #2 is the actual plant for trade.

In exchange I'm looking for a very low growing perennial (zone 5)....maybe a short dianthus with a long bloom period? Or anything cute under 6 inches that could be used in my fairy garden. ;o)

Jenny,

I would like the Fanfare. Let me see what I can tempt you with. You like violas? Let me go look at your wish list and see what else I have.

Hi Molly. Thanks for the exact id on it too. ;O) I do like violas. They don't always seem to come back very well for me though. I don't have a wish list set up. Just looking for something really short for my fairy garden (full sun)....preferrably something that blooms. :o) Let me know what you come up with. Thanks. Jenny

btw, got the cannas planted yesterday, and we had a very nice rain today. ;O)

Jenny,

I have a couple different violas, White Czar and Freckles. I also have some Balloon Flower plants. Some low growing verbena? Purple. Variegated Ajuga.

Thinking for some more. Sweet potato vine? Chartruese (Margarite)

Any tweaks yet?

Molly, do you know to what zone your verbena is hardy to? I'd love low growing verbena if it was hardy for zone 5. Or what color are your baloon flowers? I have purple, but no other color. What color ajuga? I have the choc chip, and also a pink/green/cream variegated color. Jenny

Gee Whiz Jenny,

Both kinds of my verbena are good to 7 at best. My ballon flower is purple and my ajuga is pink green and white.

Any ideas?

LOL You think the verbena could be overwintered easily in my sunroom? If you think it could, how about the verbena for the gaillardia? :o) Jenny

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Jenny, If your sun room is like a green house, I don't see why not.

The trade sounds good to me. I have your address here still.

When will you send?

I think it will work too. :O) hmm, you want to wait till Monday so the plants won't sit over the weekend? I don't know if you are familiar with gaillardia, but for me at least, it wilts pretty bad when transplating unless you keep it pretty moist. I'll keep some of the soil when I dig and wrap in wet paper then plastic wrap. Does that sound ok to you?

Are you in the addy exchange?

Jenny

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Jenny,

My address should be on that box of cannas you just got.....or I am in the exchange too.

Monday is good, I'll ship on that morning.

Thanks Molly. I'll let you know when I get it. :o)

It's been raining here steadily all day. I haven't been able to get out and dig your gaillardia yet. If I can't get it yet today, I'll get it first thing in the morning. I hope that's ok with you.

Sure Jenny, that's fine.
