EP blooming in the heat

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

I waited all summer to have a brug bloom--it has been way to hot here but finally EP is blooming--the blooms just melt in the heat--but I was proud of her for trying--Cheryl

You are doing much better than I am. Mine just gave me a puny one the other day. I grabbed the pollen and ran! I should have a bunch soon though. So late this year and I have no excuse like so much heat like you do.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I bet it would have been a real site to see if the weather had been better. Is that a little pond behind it?

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

yes i am proud of her--i have been watering at 4:30 in the morning before i go to work and when i get home at 3:00 her leaves are already hanging down--and she hasnt had much fertilizer either--she is a 4 year old plant---
WaterlooLily that is underneath my deck behind her so she gets half day sun to help the blooms last alittle longer--my pond is in front of my house

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

it is lovely...

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice going Cheryl! She sooo wants to be big and blooming for you. Once EP starts blooming does it just keep putting new buds out or does it do big flushes 3-4 weeks apart?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

What a inviting spot you have there! Your EP is beautiful and your plants all looks so healthy!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

EP is my favorite brug in the whole world. Yours is one of the prettiest container EP's I've ever seen. Praying real hard that mine will decide to love Florida and grow to look like that some day.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Way to go Snag. Maybe this cool weather we are having now will benefit the brugs here in Iowa. You should see my Arundo now. Holy cow....I'm sure glad we put it at the back of the flower bed. LOL!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Shirley, what is a 'Arundo'? And how are you feeling my dear? Hope you're feeling somewhat better. :-) (((Hugs)))

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

she bloomed a couple of weeks ago but not hardly any blooms--now she is loaded--the most blooms i have ever had on a brug

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

It is beautiful Cheryl.

BrugAddict--arundo is a grass-its a tall grass--looks like a mix between corn and bamboo--real thick stalk

Hi ya Roundup buddie! Does that Arundo run or is it a "loose" clumper?
Maybe we can have hot swap of grasses next year at the IA RU. I've got a little Karl Forster(sp) and a piece of miscanthus (I'd have to check the label) thats been in pots this summer..

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

8ftbed--that picture was last year and i have had it then 3 years--she grows fast--dont know for sure on the spread but it is spreading --its a bear to dig up--see you next year at the roundup--

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks for explaining about the arundo. I knew I couldn't get out to take a picture. LOL! Thanks Julie, I'll survive. I'm counting the days. Four weeks and six days to go. LOL!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Hi Cheryl,

I am so glad that you posted a pic of the arundo. My late mother got a start of that a few years ago from a friend and we had no idea as to what it was, now I know.

Also, your EP is beautiful. I had one for one summer and it was wonderful.

Mc Call Creek, MS

EP has always been my favorite brug. Yours is lovely, even in the heat. What a pretty yard you have!

thanks everyone--i just wish more of my brugs would bloom--been to hot of a summer for them here--her blooming made my summer--maybe next year more will bloom like that--i hope!!!

Your EP is beautiful with all the blooms on it. I like EP also, such a beauty it is. I'm hoping to have some really good flush in Sept. the heat has taken it's toll on many a brug. Thanks for sharing your garden with us.
