...but who is who on this forum? Sometimes all I see are aliases and no names... Then some messages are directed to a name, but to what alias does it "belong"?!? I've figured some out, but it's quite confusing - at least to me!
Can I have a "translation" of our aliases, or am I too forward to ask something like that?
MyHoyas = Christina = crazy hoya Swede
Perhaps it's just me...
Meltn= Mel (aka Melanie) from Tennessee
By the way Christina, I am really enjoying your posts and pictures! Keep them coming!
PanamonCreel = Milan = AGermanHoyaNutWithACzechNameThatLivesInCanadaAndTriesToCreateMoreHoyaAddictsUpHere :)
8ftbed = Blaine
one of the latest to hear the call of the Hoya... new to this forum
ricfl --------> Ric in St. Petersburg Florida.....also thanks for sharing your knowledge and pictures with us.
Sandy130 = Sandra.....a Hoya addict in Canada too :)
Hej Cristina!
Vilken bra fråga!
Some have so strange alias so i cant figure out if that is a male or a female!
By the way, my alias "Liljekonvalj" means the beautiful flower, Lily of the Valley in english. Another favorit of mine!
Maria
MaryEv - short for Mary Evelyn, too much of a mouth full, but I prefer it to just Mary. I'm a new hoya lover, too. Have been living with 3 non-bloomers for about a year, just got a few more in our "secret" trade. Mostly, I just lurk quietly in this forum, and learn from the experts. :) (and continue to dream of blooms.)
Lilypon=Pam=another Canadian whose been ensnared into another dangerous addiction. Water lilies and tropical plants used to be my only ones.
NightBloomer54= Susan from Texas. Nightbloomer because I love night blooming & night fragrant tropical plants as well as the hoya. I grow my hoyas outdoors approximately 9mo. of the year.
AlohaHoya = Carol. Aka Kalola (Hawaiian), Carolina (to my Spanish friends) and "Auntie" to strangers around here. Awanda calls me the Hoya Pimp.
cicada = Shirley from Kentucky; cicada comes from the singing insect similar to the cricket and katydid.
My interest in hoyas began last year. I enjoy reading what others have to say about hoyas and viewing pictures of their plants.
VildeA = Vilde = Norwegian Hoya addict currently living in the USA.
hbabcock=Heather, Minneapolis, MN. I started collecting hoyas about 2 years ago. It was the only plant that I never killed. It was a hoya bella to be exact! Still have it to. One of the only ones I can get to bloom over and over! What a great topic for a thread, bravo!
Heather
Sharon_TN = Sharon from TN, just outside of Nashville. Glad you asked the question, I get confused with the aliases as well and as Maria (Liljekonvalj) said, it's sometimes hard to tell from the alias if someone is male or female.
Mairzee_dotes=Marcy from Long Beach, Ca.
My alias comes from that old song, "Mares eat oats, & does eat oats, & little lambs eat ivy" (goes to show my age, huh? ha ha)
Anyway, I got bit by this hoya bug a couple of years ago, and now have them all over my trees and house windows. GAD! But I LOVE them all and just can't wait to get the next one I don't have. It's an addiction, ya know! I have learned alot from these forums,and can now root almost every one I try. Fortunately I live where I can keep them outside a good share of the year, however there are certain ones I must bring inside in the winter, plus all the little ones. So I still relate to everyones frustration in finding room for more and more of them.
Marcy
Hej.
OldFlowerGirl = Donna. We have met and I thank you again for your kind offer. :) I am a Southwestern Canadian who has a few plant addictions, the newest being Hoyas. Everyone on this forum has kindly enabled me especially Carol, Karen and of course, you.
Tack Christina.

Hoyanut = Deb (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Thank you Christina for starting this post. I am new to this forum, and I was also having a difficult time figuring everyone out. I have been growing Hoyas for several years, and don't mind spending hours looking up the many websites; gazing at the beautiful pictures of Hoyas, and making a never-ending wish list. Deb
Nightowl2 = Sandy from the west coast of Canada. Nightowl because I usually tend to be on here rather late in the evening. Number 2 because there was already a Nightowl on here when I joined.
I've only recently been bitten by the hoya bug. I've gone from 1 to 7 hoyas within the last month so I'm already trying to figure out where to put them once they start growing larger. I'm new to this forum so I'm glad you asked this question Christina. I've already learned a great deal from all the knowledgeable people here and hope they don't mind if I ask questions that have probably been answered many times before.
SCShopgirl= Jaimee in Walhalla, South Carolina Been a Hoya addict for years just didnt know it. :)
Nan = Nan!
I guess I've never been a big believer in 'total anonymity'....IyamwhatIyam!
sylck**********Sylvia, transplanted to Florida 2 years ago.
Horsewoman = Karen I am from NC. Between hoyas and horses it keeps me broke!! I also have dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, snakes, and a cockatiel in a orange tree. I have a small place and large plant addiction so my house glows green during the winter.
Thank you all for giving me names to your aliases. It's already easier to know who's "talking" to who!
By the way, Hoya Pimp, your magazine was mailed out yesterday!
Christina
Hey, Christina.
This is jdee from northeast Texas. My nickname comes from my first name, Jennifer, and my Middle name Deeann. Not very creative, but easy to remember. lol.
I am very new to the world of hoyas, but I sure have learned a lot from this forum.
Hi Christina,
mattadeus = Matt. I live 'just over the water' from you in London and have been collecting hoyas for about 5 years but have only been really bitten by the hoya bug just recently when I expanded my hoya collection to just over 90 plants. I also grow other tropicals and subtropicals particularly those with fragrance and have around 400 in containers in house, greenhouse and garden. I have lived in London for most of my life but am really a Celt with Scottish and Irish ancestry. As you can see collecting and growing plants is a real passion for me.
hostanquilts = Jan - I live in Central Illinois - I collect hosta in the summer & sew quilts mostly in the winter.
I'm very new to the forum. I've had Hoya for several years, but didn't know there were so many varieties. I'd love to get some of the fragrant ones, but not sure where I can get any around here.
I think this one should be taken to the top again. At least for a while...
Christina
I think it should be printed out for reference. So I just did. :-)
MsKitty - Ann from Eugene. I am a giant hoya [deleted]. I also love cats. Oh, yeah, here's something wierd: I love heavy metal and disco music (never play that stuff at home ... cats and plants hate it!) - yes, I know, I am a freak!
lol @ MsKitty!!
I'm surprised we can actually view 'that word'!
I love HM and *some* disco, myself!
Fragrant,I guess I'll need some of them too.heehee
I thought I would bump this up too.
:-)
Bec_No_Va = Becky in Northern Virginia. Transplanted Norwegian, live and married here in the US for nearly 13 years! Becoming just as nutty as everyone else, serious plant/tropicals/hoya/C&S addiction going on here, love my DH, my animals/birds/fish and my job! (Now, how many of you can actually say that?) I work from home as a self-employed translator of the Scandinavian languages! I havta pay for my many addictions somehow!
kimskreations = Kim in Maine. Always wanted to open a knitting/crocheting shop and anything else I "kreate" and planned to name it Kims Kreations so I am KimsKreations everywhere else but in my own shop *lol*
Been collecting hoyas here and there and have about 10 or so. Most of them are smaller ones but I have hope. Each bloom amazes me and only a couple have bloomed but I treasure each blasted bud *lol* Can't grow a Lacunosa to save my soul though and have spent enough $ trying *lol*
Kim
