That is a great color! Is it rude to ask when you get seeds if I send you postage could you please send me some? That is the prettiest one I've ever seen!

Danville, VA(Zone 7b)

Hi, I've got a pretty good variety of hibiscus plants, and was just wondering if the luna is a type of hibiscus or is it a brand name. I feel like it is a type because all of my lunas are shorter in height and much more bushy than my dinner plates, tropicals and other. That's my thought, any other thoughts on this. Mike. Oh ye, I got a rose mallow the othe day (one pink and one white) the leaves look like our tropicals but the card said they were perennials. The leaves look like my tropicals, what do you think. Thanks again.

It is a hardy one goes to zone 5. I think that is just a name they give it. They grow to 2-3ft tall and as wide. They die to the ground in winter and then come back in the late spring. That's about all the info I have.-Rich

seeds are always good for me... I've tried rooting a couple hibiscus that were just broken pieces with success. I plan to cut back some of my hibiscus once the weather starts getting bad to try more ...... after all what have I got to loose they all get cut back to the ground anyway in the spring......

I like seeds. Thanks

Ashland, NE(Zone 5a)

I got both of you your seeds in the mail this morning :)

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks a bunch breeze03, I will let you know when I receive them.

Last year I planted some white seeds, and will 1 has bloomed this year and it is a real pretty dark pink. I still have one more, but the looks of the leaves I think it may be a dark pink as well.

Thanks again, let me know what I owe you for the shipping and I will reimburse you.

You owe me nothing..enjoy!

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks again, maybe I will be able to return the favor. Tell me what to look for to get seeds.

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

Breeze03 - The Luna Red is still blooming today ..... Once I start collecting seeds from my others I'll D-mail you and Linda and see if I have others you guys may want .....

Linda, We can certainly try some cuttings....... Do you think I should get them started and then ship or just ship a bunch of cuttings.... ? Do you have suggestions on how to do the shipping.... ? I've only had about 50% success with trying cuttings so far..... I tried because of your post - Thanks for that - I'm still working on my technique, it seems to be lacking something.....

How far is Winfield from me (I'm south of Topeka ) do you know ? You and I meet up in alot of these forums I'm watching for your response to the cattle panel arbor over in Garden Art.... and TropicMan and I are contemplating a raid on your EE's .....

Thanks. If I wern't so far away I'd join you two on your raid! LOL. Those EE are huge!

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

Linda does have some big Ears doesn't she ...... LOL to anyone but a gardener that would sound like an insult...... but we're all envious of them .........

I'm not sure what to tell you vs71099 on shipping cuttings. I have some Rapid Rooters I am dying to try. I suppose you could cut them and then wrap the ends in wet paper towel and place in a baggy, or put some of that new Glad Press'n Seal around it to keep the moisture in.

I had a cutting break off of one of my hardies a month ago and I stuck it in plain water with a bubbler and in about 3 weeks it was ready to plant . But I got some of the Rapid Rotters and can't wait to see how they do. I don't want to use them on just anything, cause I only have 50.

I live about 45 miles southeast of Wichita. 6 miles east of Winfield. About 30 min. from the Okla. Line.

When it comes time to dig those EE's up I am going to need some help and a raid would be an great way to get it.

Thanks to vs71099 and Breeze03 for the great compliments, it does the ole heart good. I had to find a hat because my head was starting to swell.

I'd say you're about 3 hours from me..... but a 3 hour drive to swap plants wouldn't be to bad we could do your place one year and you could come up to mine the next....... We could meet at TropicMan's if he'll still give us a pass to the jungle......

I'll work on my hibiscus list so you can see if there are any you want cuttings from..... and nana pups if you need more of those...... I haven't tried getting a pup from the main plant yet but as you can see in this one it has a few coming up ...... I think this one I will have to try and overwinter in the ground..... I hope it does ok .... I'll have tons of castor seeds if you are still plucking yours for size .....

No my plucking castor bean flowers is over, letting them do there own thing. So I will have some seeds for next year, and anybody else who might want some. With as many plants as I have out I am sure I will have more then enough.

That would be a good ideal about meeting at Tropicmans.
A raid on his beautiful garden. What fun.

Linda
