Geezzz Kyle, those are breath taking. did you start these from seeds for real? I have heard of people starting cannas from seed, just didnt see the results. I have always bougth tubers.
How are you kyle? is your egyptian room all done? new project in the works?
Hope you are well

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Pebble, yes all were started in March from seeds, for each pretty seedling there is usually about 7 or so that get thrown out. The egypgtian room is basically done, now the stairwell going upstairs will be egyptian also(too much stuff!! LOL)The kitchen is going to be caribbean, the master bedroom tropical and I think the living room will be mesoamerican(mayan, aztec, incan, etc.) motif. Busy busy busy, :-)

wow Kyle, you have your hands full with all your re-decorating........ what fun you must be having though....

I cant believe that cannas bloom from seed in one season. is that normal?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Beautiful blooms. I sure wish we did not have problems with leaf rollers and other eating insects on cannas here; it could easily be a real passion with me. I have to cut my cannas to the ground - suddenly I stopped spaying, and bugs have eaten all the leaves up. I am thinking I will try a systemic - maybe it will last longer.

Kyle, those last two pics are beautiful....love the spotted one.

WOW!! Can I get some of YOUR seeds??!! I am getting ready to make a bed of these with the ones I already have, a few seedlings and then plant some more seeds! Bonnie

I love your results, Kyle. And I love how fast you get to see your results. I have Tropicanna blooming. I wonder if I pollinate it with another one in my yard like Australia.

Did you cross them yourself or did the bees do it? Any pointers? Do they self pollinate for exact replicas of the mom? With my luck I would grow a bunch and have them l look just like the mom.

THANKS KYle!

PS Can we see pictures of your rooms? At first I thought you were talking about garden rooms but rooms in your house.....what a project. I would love to see them!

kell, check under threads Kyle has started and then in the Home Decorating forum, real nice job. I came across it last year when I was new at Dave's.

Kell,I crossed most of them years ago.Just decided to plant some again. Many look like one or the other parent, many duplicates like daylilies.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Beautiful cananas, Kyle.. I need to learn how to pollinate these too.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

I luv the speckled one the best, but they are all beautiful! Did you say that they all were started from seeds this year? My cannas that I planted from seeds are huge but no bloom yet. Definitely have to save seeds for the speckled one!

I don't think I will see the 70's for 2 more months.... a cool breeze would be nice....

Outstanding plants Kyle, whatever are you feeding them to get such beautiful blooms in one season. Are we going to see "Cannas by Kyle" on plant labels soon?

Roz, we have leaf rollers here too and I have found that the species cannas do well for me - no spraying at all! They are not pretty like Kyle's but they have other attributes. I grow Canna Warscewiczii just for the seed heads which I think are interesting.
