New african violet auction site

Lebanon, IN

I don't know if anyone has posted this but there is a new website www.violetcentral.com which is sort of like ebay but listings are free and they only list african violets. It's only been up for a couple of weeks and they are upgrading it on thursday to make it even better. There are lots of listings at this point but not so many bidders.

I just thought you all might be interested.

Ooh, thanks for the tip! We should all coordinate somehow so we don't all go and outbid eachother, since we can share leaves, of course. :o)

It looks like it's going to be a great site.
Did anyone else read the nice article on variegated violets??
It's worth the time and has some nice information there .
Here's the link in case you missed it.....

That's a great article! Best explanation of the various types of variegation & the history behind them that I've come across. Thanks for the link!

Dana, good idea, but I have no notion how to implement it.... Would you just post on this thread and say, for example, "I'm bidding on the two leaves of Rob's Boondoggle... so, paws off!" With so many items on that site, I don't think it's all that likely we'll end up bidding on the same ones, but perhaps anyone who's actively persuing bids at a particular time could post to find out if anyone else is doing the same... if nothing else, those who are putting in bids the same week could probably have a fun exchange of Dmail or posts to share the excitement!

I'm glad you enjoyed the article, too. I thought it was great myself....someone here was asking how the best way to grow variegated AV's was and I only know that they don't like a high nitrogen fertilizer, from another one of my little "accidental experiments".lol
