It's been stinkin' HOT. So I've neglected the harvesting of my white potatoes. Vines have died, but I have not dug them. Anybody know if I'm going to lose my yield? How long can I/should I have waited?
spuds still in the ground
If you don;t have voles harvesting them, or extremely wet weather which encourages rot, you should be okey. I would get them out as soon as you can, but under favorable conditions they will keep in the ground for quite a while.
no volesit is fairly dry here. i left some of mine till thanksgiving. it was neat digging our own potatoe for the meal! apparently i missed some (it was cold), because volunteers came up from there this year
Ah, good to know. I've been beating myself up mentally for being a lazy bum.
someone (not a lazy bum either) once said, "why do in summer what you can put off till fall..."
Love that quote! Must remember it for next year.
When it's 90 degrees outside with high humidity I want to avoid any activity that makes me sweat...like go outside and... breathe!
