My Poor Bojangles

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

Some of you know the story of Bojangles, and how he came to be one of the friendlier ferals out there. He's been my latest former feral, indoor/outdoor cat.

Today, he "asked" to come in, and of course, I let him. He came up for his morning petting, and I noticed something strange. He didn't raise his tail one time, which is unusual for him. I examined his tail a little closer, but he jerked away. I don't know when or how he did it, but he seems to have a tail injury. I read through an article about tail injuries in a back issue of one of my Catwatch newsletters. I'm afraid he may have to have it amputated, and I'm a little scared for him. He has an appointment to see the vet at 11:15 today, so I should know more later.

I must say, I've never had any experience with this sort of thing. Can anyone out there, who has a tailess cat tell me what to expect? Will he be ok? Is it a hard thing for a cat to get over? I guess I shouldn't get this nervous until I see the vet, should I?
