This picture is one of two copper trellises that I have constructed. I first saw it being made on a segment of a show on HGTV. I downloaded the plans from their website. A better set of plans and parts list are available at www.lostarts.com/products/diagram.htm The total cost for all the copper parts is about $20.00 or less. The HGTV version was assembled with Liquid Nails. I used solder, flux and a torch for mine. I also stiffened the structure by inserting rebar into the long sides. I then used a copper cap to seal up the end. The other trellis has a green patina. There are several ways to obtain a green patina on copper. One is to wait 10 or 15 years the other can be available almost instantly by mixing one cup of vinegar, three teaspoons of salt and one fourth cup of ammonia. Brush it on and you have a nice patina. The hanging mobile is not part of the trellis. It has a complex shape that makes at least 8 patterns as it moves in a breeze. I may discuss it in another posting.
