Was wondering if anyone had one and if so what do you use for your pre-filter ?
Anyone have a Fish Mate UV/ Filter
Hi Colleen! I am in Lansing too-just off Pennsylvania Ave. I have this filter:

Is this the one you mean?
Yes that is the one. What do you use for a pre-filter? I have a Pondmaster Supreme Pump and Filter am trying to elimate the hassle of reaching in the pond and cleaning the filter thought Fishmate would be easier to clean. I live off of MLK.
Funny how small a world it is!
I don't use a prefilter, just the little plastic screen that came with the pump. I rinse the sponge inside the box about once a week in pond water, it is easy, no hassle at all.
My pond is 700 gallons, holds 10 fish from 3" to 15". I really like the Fishmate filter, but it is the only one I have ever used. I also have a lot of water hyacinth that I think provide very good biological filtration.
I don't have a problem with water quality only in the spring the green water period it's the reason I got the UV. I got a great price on the Fishmate $91.00 and the replacement kit is only like $23.00. My pond is 300 gallons and about 10 fish and my plants have gone crazy this year I've had to pull water hyacinths out of the pond they over taking it. I got a great deal from a lady in Florida $30.00 for about 30 plants included shipping!
You did get some great deals! I have been feeding extra water hyacinth to my dogs. I know that sounds crazy, but they love to shake them, shred them, and eat them. Cheap toy, cause like yours, they are growing like gangbusters.
