My first ever Brug baby. Knightii? I think not! Even a dummie like me knows that a Knightii is white. This little beauty opened last night looking yellow, but I knew that would change. Even at that stage, the scent was wonderful and waiffed up two stories to where our bedroom is, directly above it. This morning dawned to a pretty pale pink flower...Frosty Pink perhaps...what do you experts out there think?
Here she is....
she is pretty,,
Wilma
Gorgeous!
Ann
Very pretty whatever the colour. We won't ask why you thought it was knightii.
Simple, the gal that I received the cuting from last fall, who lives in Alberta and shall remain nameless, said it was a Knightii. Who am I to argue. Must have been a simple label mix-up. I got 3 different Brug cutting from her at that time.
chuckle chuckle, snick snick. Fleeting feelings of deja vu
Does look similar to my Frosty (but so do a couple of others).
Oh dear, I may never know for sure... I know Jeanne's away... Sandy, Linda...Liz?
She's pretty, Donna.
Good morning folks, I just got up. She's pretty, and looks like Frosty Pink. She does have a nice scent.
Thanks Liz. I appreciate the ID. I had kinda quessed Frosty Pink. :) Yes, she does smell sensational. The best news though...she has a couple siblings coming along in the next week or so. Woo Hoo!!
Congratulations on your first brug flower Donna. She's a beauty. Now you'll probably hardly be without brug flowers because in my experience (limited as it is) once they start blooming they hardly quit. They start growing branches sideways and then are covered in buds and blooms. They're unreal and I hope to always have at least a few around to grace the patio. It looks alot like my Glenda's Frosty Pink.
Here's a picture to compare it with. When they first open they're white, then they're pale pink and eventually turn a darker pink. Has yours gone a darker pink colour? Do you have a picture of it today?
This picture shows a new bloom and an older one.
Sandy
Thanks Sandy. Mine wasn't white first, but a pale yellow. Then to pink. It hasn't gotten too much darker, but looks a lot like the pink one in your photo. It's starting to get dark now, so I'll wait until tomorrow morning and take a picture again. I have two more coming fairly soon too, Maybe next week sometime.
Are the two that are going to bloom soon part of the same plant that this cutting came from or are they from different plants?
Same plant.
I wish I could grow flowers that looked half as good.
It's beautiful Donna. I like the pale pink colour. It's more like my Isabella. I've only had a couple of blooms on her so far but she has a bunch of buds. It's difficult to get pictures because she's so tall. She must be 8 feet tall and you know how tall I am. I have another pink one with it's first bud, Adora. I can't wait to see that one. Also, I have a noid one that was supposed to be cream but I gave a piece to a friend and hers has already bloomed and it turned out to be pink. It has buds that should open today or tomorrow so I'm interested to see what that one looks like too. I'm having a lot of fun with them. It's nice to be getting pinks, as for a while, when I looked out in the back garden it was a sea of yellows.
Here's my Isabella.
Just gorgeous Sandy! Is the difference between Isabella and Frosty Pink, just the turn up of the petals? (I know I am not using the correct Brug lingo, but you know what I mean. Your Isabella is nearly the exact same color as mine. I have an Isabella Brug as well, but she is not doing anything noteworthy yet. I guess I'll get better at seeing the difference between them all when (and if) they all start blooming. :)
Beautiful!
I don't know what the difference is Donna. I find it difficult to tell much from pictures, especially since it depends so much on the angles the pictures are taken from on top of everything else. It looks to me like the pink on Isabella goes higher up the flower.
