CLOSED: Have Water Lettuce/ found out Water Hyacinths are Illegal!

Collins (90 min. dr, MS(Zone 8b)

I was just informed that Water Hyacinths are illegal! (Wonder if my mayor knows this, as they are used here in my small town to clean the city's sewer system!).

If any of you want water lettuce, I have that, too.

Yes, and if you're caught with them, they'll confiscate everything! They're considered invasive in several states because they clog up waterways in the blink of an eye and suck all the oxygen out of the water. Too bad something so beautiful is so bad! I found out that water lettuce is illegal too--at least here in Texas.

MY WORD! I'm a regular OUTLAW!
And I just bought these a couple of months ago!
I'll never dare let them get out into the streams, just gona use my extras as compost, I guess

They're growing all in the swamps here. That's where I first saw them to know I wanted some.

They're illegal in some states--the warmer states where winter can't kill them. They're not illegal here in AR because they do die completely during the winter if left outside. My ponds are full of them. The fish spawn in the roots. And my hyacinths are in bloom now. Just beautiful!

I was fined for my water lettuce here in Texas. They are treated a lot like maryjane if you are caught around here.
