Time to dig. .

Mount Pleasant, MI(Zone 5b)

Today is the day... It finally cooled off enough to gt out there and prepare the new holly hock/poppy bed.

I will be putting in a couple hundred of these:

Hollyhock Mallow Mystic Merlin

Poppy Peony

Great Red Poppy

Hollyhock Creme de Cassis

Hibiscus Southern Belle Hybrid Mix

Wish me luck... This is my first time direct sowing.

Albion, MI(Zone 5b)

Much luck! Sounds beautiful. Can't wait to see the results next year, or even a shot of the bed when sown.

I have the pictures on film now, Judy! Give me a day or so to get them developed and I will share... :)

Also, do you ahve any tips for me? I am so scared to waste all that time and energy. :-P

Nick......I would guess hollyhock seed does not get buried as they seed from sunlight. I guess you have all the Hollyhock you need. I have some babies here I thought you wanted.....let me know

Good luck on your seeds. One year I planted a whole long border with just seeds in the spring. I had to wait until summer was almost over before they bloomed, but it sure was a pretty sight!

P.S. I stopped by the ice cream parlor and there is no for sale sign up, just a sign in the window that says "Closed."

Thank Marilyn... I am sad to hear the Parlor is gone :( Lots of childhood memories there.. As a matter of fact, I met one of my college roommates there, long before we were roommates.

I will keep you all posted re: the seeds.

Deann, I just don't have time this year to get out there and dig. Things have been hectic for me at the office.

Nick
