Cathy
Is there anything on my list you would like for a few of each? If not maybe postage?

I don't know if this is a different variety than your Giant Green. It wasn't named when I got it. Attached is a photo (I put the Kleenex box in the pic for size reference). If you are interested in it, I have a small 3" pup that I would love to trade for a Black Magic.

This is a picture of the same variety that is growing in a more sunny location. The first was grown in full shade.

And here's a picture of the pup. The lightness on one leaf is the setting sun just coming through.

Cathy your giant green ee is Xanthosoma sagittaefolium....just thought you'd like the name for it. Gets absolutely huge leaves if fed a lot! :-)

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Xanthosoma sagittaefolium EE, yes that's the name, I did receive it in a trade last year and it's a monster this year. The new leaves are twice as big as the ones in the picture above. Thanks Eclipse.

JoleneS I have that one, sorry.

Eclipse, I have another one that's a giant that I received in a trade that was called giant purple stem, do you know the name of that one. I'll get a picture and post it.

Centerville, UT(Zone 6a)

Not a problem. Do you know its name?

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Jolene,

It's Colocasia Escuelenta

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

No, I don't know the name of that one either, but I did buy the bulb in Walmart and it grows and mutiplys like crazy.

Cathy the other one is a Xanthosoma too. probably violaeceum, blue ape,(ah-pay) pronunciation.
look under the leaves and see if the veins are colored. If so its violaeceum.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I was thinking violaceum too but couldn't see purple veins so I didn't take a stab at it. LOL

Hey Kyle, since you have me looking at ethnic food as garden staples....I found this site and thought it was kind of neat. It really isn't any new info, but does list other names for the roots, descriptions, growing info, etc. Maybe you can get more people shopping for their plants at the market. :)

Hey Cathy...I have some WONDERFUL Caldiums (Aaron and Pink Beauty) that I have plenty of extras I'd be willing to trade for a couple of those EE's (Just kidding! There's NO way you'll get THOSE back! hehehe)

Fantastic looking EE's btw...This is the first year I've grown them and hopefully not the last!
