This time of year, especially in late afternoon, the clearing in the woods where our house sits is just swarming with butterflies. I was out watering the container plants at the front of the house a few minutes ago and noticed two Tiger Swallowtails meandering and fluttering across the drive toward me. They flew above my head, and as I turned to follow their progress, apparently disappeared.
I'm in the middle of chemotherapy, so to keep my bald-as-an-egg scalp from burning, I wear a cap. Today's cap is light blue, with white flower drawings on it. As I passed the bay windows to water the next container, there they were in the reflection -- perched happily on my head. Felt like a benediction.

What lovely thing - to have two beautiful creatures blessing you at the same time. Little miracles like that sure make the hard times easer to handle.
