Now...I was hoping someone could help me out with this one. I brought back a mixed packet of seeds from Costa Rica. One of the seeds was a raintree. I've never seen this look before. I did go to the plant files, and it looked like there are several species. The interesting thing is that it's one trunk, and it sort of fans out with fronds. It could be a giant weed too, but haven't seen anyting similar around.

another view.

I think I found the answer to this tree. There were not too many compliments either. My garden helpers the squirrels must have planted for me in my pot. They plant pecans all of the time, and I have a couple more unknown trees growing.

That looks fantastic - your own private jungle. You've got quite a wide range of plants; how fun!

Bring on the Mai Tai's!

Thanks! It is a alot of fun. That moment before work, sitting in front of the pond..makes the day better!

Definitely is an inviting jungle to drink Mai Tai's! You did a fabulous job in creating it.

I love the jungle look. Great job and I can imagine all the work it took to create your jungle. Don't know what the tall fernie tree is but it fits very well in your jungle.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Your jungle is great. Looks so cool and calm.

I bet the "fern" tree has yellow blooms on it - big ones. Let me know if it has big thick seed pods. I have a mystery tree too, and it does look similar to yours, only yours has more frond like branches. Maybe some kind of cassia?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks guys. Hmm..going to check the cassia out. thanks for the tip.

I kept looking for the Mayan Temple, but didn't see it,duh!!! LOok how many years before there saw it too!!!!
I think your squirrels made a trip north as well, about every pot I have was planted with pecans today, potting soil was everywhere, and several holes dug in the pots.
Great rainforest, and those squirrel monkeys, must love it there!!!
