When are you addicted to hoyas...? (This could be fun!)

Trelleborg, Sweden

... when you look for a house and you keep finding something "wrong" with the houses that don't have windows big enough for your hoyas?

Las Vegas, NV

I have to admit, I have also looked at houses, and finding one with what I think would have adequate windows for my Hoyas seems to be a top priority for me in house hunting.
I have also thought it would be nice to cut a few more holes in the house for more windows, just haven't shared this thought with my wonderful hubby. I have this feeling he wouldn't agree with me.

When your idea of a mad shopping spree is getting a bunch of new hoyas or when hoyas take the place of chocolate!!

When you start giving away other, previously loved tropical plants that require the same sun exposure as the hoyas to make room for the cuttings that are nearly ready to be potted up. My friends are loving me...8-)

When the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night is check the progress of the first bloom on a plant you've been begging to produce. (then you think about it all day while you're at work.)

H. montana has "buds in waiting". I adore the leaves so I'm hoping for a spectacular bloom.

Yes, and the thought of a mad shopping spree for hoya gives me goosebumps. It's a good thing there's no instant gratification to be found in my neck of the woods.

When you sit down in the evening to read the paper and say to yourself: "....and now for something completely different - not hoya related!!!"...and sniff the night air for a new scent and are like a kid at Christmas for the next morning to see what was blooming!!

Carol

H. montana will thrill you Susan...great yellow blooms that contrast so well with the green leaves!!!!

Abbotsford, BC(Zone 8a)

whew, glad i am not the only one that has these thoughts....lol.....That is funny about the shopping spree....i have to agree, no where to shop for hoyas here either....my hubby is very glad of that too :)

Who needs a local place to buy hoyas?? Going to a "certain" website and shopping can be just as fun!! LOL
Instead of a shopping channel on TV, I shop on line.

OH, and when all of your "favorites" on your computer are hoya sites you know you are in trouble.

You grab your first cup of coffee and walk around your cherry tree checking out all your Hoyas after a night out....Calling each a pet name......

London, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

When you already have too many for the space you have, but can't wait for those mail orders to arrive with yet more; meanwhile spending the time propagating your favorites (usually all of them) just in case you lose one!!

.......When your friends look sympathetically at you and knowingly at each other as you talk tirelessly about your plants...and then carefully enquire after your health; suggest you take things easier and offer to run you errands.......

and yep Karen,..... all my "favorites" on my computer are hoya sites too......

Matt ...♫ ...♫...........

I agree with Christine in Canada.. I've certainly given away a lot of tropicals to make room.

When you thinking of give away your dog, in this case a boxermale, because he just have eaten your most expensive and unusually hoyacutting.....

I would say it is when you have to start fostering out mature plants you grew from cuttings and bloomed to make room for new plants you have yet to see bloom.
I will be facing that dilema this fall. I am thinking of drawing up adoption papers!

When you ask your hubby to put a porta-potty in your greenhouse and you want an alarm on your greenhouse rather than the house!!

My vacations have been shorter 'cause of hoyas. In a way its good, I'll save money to buy new ones. If I'm away for more then three days. I find myself worrying about their wellbeing.

Aberdeen, NC

Yes, Rick, that is an addiction. Or how about " if I didn't take a vacation, how many hoyas could I buy" LOL I have thought about that one too!!

When you're trying to figure out how to get your boyfriend to get the idea that we need to add a new room to our house with lots and lots of windows to the south and east. I want it to be HIS idea...

Now that I have picked myself up off the floor (I fell out of my chair because I was laughing so hard), I am happy to report that this thread has led me to the realization that there really are people are just like me. Hallelujah!
I am new to the world of forums, but I have a feeling this will be enjoyable. I have been growing Hoya's for about 10 years now, but I only had a few. My collection has grown recently (thanks to Carol at Aloha Hoya's and an acquaintance who just up and got rid of most of his Hoyas), but my windows have not - oh, well ... who needs curtains anyway?!
Thanks for having such a nice community.

Hey, Ann - so great to see you here!!! I had no idea you were MsKitty!!!

I had to put extra money on our phone card because when I am in New Zealand next week I will be calling DH to make sure he has not forgotten to water XYZ, and did he remember the ones hanging in the Star Fruit Tree and , OOOOps...and....

Obsessed? YUP!

When you are hoping your hubby will look at your wish list and get you Hoyas for your birthday, anniversary, Christmas, or best of all, "Just Because". Deb

When your employer just gave you a raise and it is not enough for a greenhouse, but you look to see how many hoyas it will get.........

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Amen to that horsewoman! I get so excited when I have a good night at work. More hoyas, and luckily, last night was excellent. Hmmm...what to get now? I am lucky it is cold here 7-8 months out of the year, no shipping to Mpls. I think I might be out on the street with my hoyas!

Soon we are going to have to choose between a tank of Gas and.....?

Aberdeen, NC

I think the hoyas will beat a tank of gas!! More for the money and it lasts longer. Besides a little exercise never hurt anyone.
