passiflora seed quandry

I recieved some seeds in trade and I was wondering why some of them are black and some white? will they produce genetically different plants? these are P. edulis seeds and any information I can get is appreciated.

I would suggest that the seeds were at different stages of ripe-ness, yes they most certainly could be taken from different plants of the same species that have subtle genetic differences. Germinate them and you tell us.....

sadly, the Salvia went limp and brown the minute I got home and I lost it within that week. I guess they're just picky plants :(
