'unk. pale pink suaveolens' x Adora
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is also my first bloom from seed. woot!
2nd night and the 90' plus humidity today burnt the tendrils off.
Last night I checked after midnight and she was fully open and curved back like Adora but then closes during the day like PP.
This second night her fragrance has changed and become stronger. I have 7 other seedlings from this same pod that have Y'd and setting buds.
Thanks Julie..
8th - Send a title change request to "Contact Us" and they will. I'm messed up a couple of titles in the past and requested they make a change.
Beautiful bloom and I'm envious because none of my seedlings have "Y's" yet!! How exciting for you!!
Judy
Thanks Judy... did it.
Good job Blaine and Julie. Isn't it fun to watch them open. One of my seedlings is all set for the second flush. There were 2 buds this morning with the corolla about 4 inches out, it should be open this afternoon when I get home. There are another dozen buds that should open Fri/Sat/Sun. Excitement in the air.
... and anticipation. I wanna see.
Oh Blaine, I'm proud of you, and want you to know I think you've become a scholar in not only growing from seeds but nurturing them also to receive all the rewards of your sowing. That's what it's all about. Having fun, the anticipation, and the rewards of your efforts.
Since this was her first flush, and first year...next year should tell the story. I grew out Insig. pink x becca lynne, hybridizer J.T.Sessions and it turned out white. Very pretty white but there are so many white's but I had one!!!! Thank God, cos' I love her. She's another one I won't be getting rid of. But the second seedling grown out was totally pink and precious, it was so tiny and cute with the cutest little tendrils... a miniature brug if you will!!! And this is its second year too as a seedling but it didn't bloom last year for me. So you still have a chance to have something that has a chance of having 'staying power'.... :-) Hang in there and I will be right here with ya awaiting her arrival :-) Thank you for posting this, it was a nice surprise this morning.
Here's the original thread that I posted about my experiment with the moma and daddy parents you have.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/488394/
I was wondering if Hellobebe, digGardening, EskieLeia, Imadzi, YTRN or Diamond123 got their seeds to do anything. If so, let me know ((((Hugs))))
Happy Gardening
(((((J)))))
P.S. I can't wait for your next seedling to bloom which is PPxGL by Brugie...She deserves something good with all she's been through and I hope she's the one to make the dream of a pink double brug come true. Shirley (Brugie)!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!
Seedling parents deserve "all" the credit in the world! They are the ones that pour their hearts and souls and time and money into the plants.
Congratulations Julie!
That is the truth Vee!!!! Amen!
I have never even heard of Pale Pink. So many brugs these days, hard to keep up! Yours is so pretty Blaine, hope the weather lets up for you to really see how she looks.
I will be so interested in seeing what you get from GL being the father. GL is such a good brug mom, maybe she is a good Dad too. I have gotten so many different looking brugs from her, I love her.
Kell, lol it's just the color of the brug...not a named one :-)
Thanks Julie and I forgot about looking at the original thread. So that's pretty good from seed to bloom at 5' in 5 months.
While we're at, do I have the label correct now?
The pod plant (pale pink) is listed first?
Hi Blaine,
I think so too. Totally...and Yes, you've got it right....pale pink is the moma which was pollinated with the daddy (Adora) or the pollen donor to pale pink. So the first name should be the pod parent moma and daddy is x next. Just remember the moma get's to be first cos' she is carrying the babies lol hehe
Great Job it's a beauty!
Getting such a nice seedling to grow and bloom is a real effort; getting them started takes such patience; congrats on its first bloom.
the description should read 'unk. pale pink suaveolens' as it is only a description of the momma plant .... not a 'name'....... hence not in caps , only lower case.
THis will avoid further confusion
Gosh, we would all be lost without your knowledge and know how....I know I would! *ggg*
are you sure I'll never be confused again? If this is all it takes, I should have done it about 5 kids ago!!
seriously - I don't think I'll ask admin to change the title (again) but I can certainly add/modify the description in the first post. The rules and standards for describing brugs isn't something I've studied. Thanks for pointing this out. Others had probably noted that goof as well but didn't say anything. Have you noticed how many people will talk to you all day and not tell you you're fly is open, you've got spinach in your teeth or a booger hanging out of your nose?
:)
lol!
Edited to say:
You have 5 kids??? Whoa! Congrats
LOLOL just got a chuckle out of that post LOLOL
Blaine, Blaine, you're something else.
tell me ain't so!
Let a piece of TP hang out of your skirt's waistband at the office or church and see how many people you can pass before something is said.
While in the Navy, every now and then I'd leave something out of place or missing on my uniform on duty days. A collar device upside down, missing belt, pockets unbuttoned, wrong rank insignia. Stuff like that. The person that finally said something... I'd give them the duty day off or if I couldn't let them go, I'd stand their watch. It's the little things...
This has happened to me too....out in a public restaurant....
LOL Well, I for one would tell you if you had a booger hangin' out your nose, TP hangin' from your britches, even if your fly was open I'd tell ya lol...not embarass you for Heaven's sake though!
One time at a dept breakfast at Abbott, a guy had come in late and sat next to me. Didn't know him from boo. He started making a comment to someone down the table and I gesture and mention he oughta get the eggs benedict off his face. :) No biggee.
It was the new Division President.
ROFLMBO!!!! Just your luck huh? LOL Wow, then what happened LOL ...did he laugh, I know he did! That's just way too funny!
Congratulations on growing such a beauty from seed!! Terrific!!
You guys that hang together at night are a rowdy crew - I guess it's the Brug sniffing that does it!
LOLOLOL! You guys are my kind of people! Onery and don't pull and punches, let it all hang out knowing it's all in good fun;)
I sure wished my wife shared this sense of humor!LOL She thinks my joking sarcasm is mostly just mean and uncalled for! She's getting better about it after all these years together but it still gets to her now and then sadly. I end up kissing tail for a few hours to make it all better. She see's how my family and friends all act like this and just doesn't dig it or understand. LOL Why is it "Youand your friends are so mean to each other?"? She'll come around some day
Please keep the awesome pics coming brother, very very cool!
JD
just wonderful Blaine, AWWWWWWWWWWWW i am in love.
JoAnn
JD! Comrade in arms! I get the same stuff from mine. I can get chastised making cracks about someone I see on t.v.. Another good reason to hang out with the plants and stuff outside.
Stay tuned JoAnn. We're gonna get a second look at these pretty soon and a different seedling from the same pod is coming. Except now we'll see what they think about rain since we may be in for a a few inches over the next couple of weeks.
8ft. did you say rain!!!!!!!!!!!! how do you spell that. Last night it rained just enough to tease my plants. Today it's going to 97 even I look droopy. It could rain for days and I would be happy.
I need some info on how to start seeds, someone sent me and I am not having any luck at all. I guess I should start a new post on this subject. Think I will.
JoAnn
If you're talking about brugs... there's a bunch of threads already out there.
I fed my first attempts to fungus gnats (which were new to me as well) because I didn't know. You'll find several different methods used among the members from rockwool, to wet papertowels to potting soil to soilless mix.
I think the common denominator in all is start with sterile media, cover it (humidity in and gnats out), seeds not buried, warm and light.
My germination rate went to near 100% with viable seeds when I poured boiling water through my containers of potting soil first, pressed the seeds onto the surface after it cooled, covered with press and seal and had underneath my fluorescents until the first one started to sprout then uncovered it. (thanks Brugie)
