Been waiting to see if the new growth on this was a flower or not -- can I relax now? This is one of the rooted cuttings I bought at Epie Acres just a couple of months ago -- I did not expect a bloom until next year. It's E. Ackermanii -- I'm loving the color already.
Any bets on how long it will be?

Well, I guess it is...
Way to go! I can't wait to see the entire flower! Lucky you that you were able to get to Epie Acres.

"not long now" -
it will be gorgeous!
Yes, Donna, I was lucky! Everything I bought there is doing fine -- which is more than I can say for some of my other gardening efforts! I even have a whole little nursery of my own cuttings from the big E. strictum I got there, and a couple from friends. We just finished construction on our "shade room" attached to the house, which should be the perfect home for epis.
What a treat getting a bloom so soon!! I love the color.
Beautiful!!!!!!
just gorgeous! And beautiful pictures too!
That is a beauty !!! I love the color of the blossom.
Watch for hummingbirds. When mine bloomed, the hummingbirds were buzzing around like fighter pilots!! LOL I had to duck a couple of times.
Those hummers were out of luck -- I brought it inside our screened room to enjoy it! But their feeder is right outside, so that kept them busy. The flower lasted for three days. I really look forward to the next one.
