Does anyone remember how much tea tree oil to use per gallon of water to treat for spider mites?
Tea Tree Oil and spider mites
Sorry, I don't know. Don't you just hate mites.
Hi Patricia, Here this link should help you out.

Kin, Thank you so much for the link. I have my grandchildren for 10 day's and have had little to no time on my computer. I just found two more brugs. with mites tonight, so I will for sure be out there spraying before they are up in the morning.
Patricia
As Tea Tree Oil is used medicinally I can't imagine it being able to kill mites. I think any oil would work....the result is oil/soap...but I like the scent of the Tea Tree Oil. Don't mean to be a Skeptic Sam....
I think spraying anything with Rhubarb leaves would kill them....even DH! No rhubarb here....Neem oil works for me...and stripping the leaves OFF the plant before spraying!

Your Welcome Patricia. Just one of those things I remember reading and lurking about... Enjoy those Grandchildren. I can see you are going to be BUSY.
Carol, I just did the pat down search and strip em guys and gals!!! I have a bunch of naked looking brugs now. All Neem oiled Up!!! Kinda smells like a cabinet shop outside right now..
Have you used that before, Patricia. I remember Ma Vie sure liked Tea Oil. I never could find it. Susie says it is great for rooting things also. I wonder how Ma Vie is. Anyone heard? I should email her tonight.
I'm always willing to try something new. Equador Pink is the only one to get a spider mite problem. They laughed at the neem oil, snickered at the Bayer, and I thought I just heard them giggle at the Sevin. Funny, because I have Pink Beauty sitting 3 feet away and looking like a cover girl for Brugs. I wonder why they liked EP too well. I think I can get Tea Tree oil at the health store nearby.
Mary
Let us know Mary!! Isn't it funny how the mites seem to love certain brugs and not others. To bad EP is such a good one to use for hybridizing.
LOL Mary. Bayer works or has worked so far with the brugs planted in the ground. The ones in the containers it didn't work on them. Maybe due to all the frequent watering and it just flushes it out.
My EP has had no problems so far. The mites seem to like this years seedlings. Darn those Mites!!!
Don't you just hate them so much??
HINT: Use the Bayer when the pot is dry... (CONFESSION: read it in the directions and never knew it....LOL).
edit because information was already given-sorry.

I am sure you are right. We have been 90 and above for weeks now. This is my first experience with a real hot summer with consistently hot tempretures.
I just went out and sprayed, so I will let you know if it helps.
Patricia, have you sprayed the heck out of the leaves every day?..I was trying everythign I could think of to get rid of spider mites..all I had to do is every day spray them with a pretty ahrd spray..they are gone now ..Judy
Judy, I was amazed at how fast these spider mites came on. When I left town last Wednesday they didn't appear to have any. But it was around 100 everyday that I was gone. This morning I was shocked to see how thick the webbing was on a few of the brugs. I think they are begond the water spraying. I have done that when first seeing them in the past.
I sprayed Sevin trying to kill the flea beetles on my brugs, and then read that it may cause spider mites to multiply, because it doesn't kill them but it does kill beneficials that might eat spider mites. Boy did that make me sweat! I have tried Avid and also Neem. I didn't know I was supposed to strip the leaves first (duh!) so maybe I'll do that and spray again.
Kell, I know you have lots of brugs that are tree-sized. How do you spray them when they are so tall? (or anyone else with brugs that grow quite large)
Eileen
