Snowbank & Pods

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

I don't post much, but often am here.

My snowbanks, I have 2 of them, really did well this year. (They did nothing last year) The one that is finished blooming, has had many interludes with the moths. The other one, is still blooming.
This picture is of the one blooming and the one that has all the pods.

this one is just the pods, ALL pollinated by mother nature.

I will say they have pods. LOL. So please refresh my memory. Are all Snowbank's seedlings albinos?

Is it true that B. arborea is the only one that self-pollinates. If my memory is working, in their natural habitat, Brugmansias are pollinated by hummingbirds and a few insects. What pollinates them here in North America? Is variegation a dominant or recessive trait?

wow great plants lots lots pods.. way to go.. good pictures to..

Veronica, sangs also self pollinate though it is my experience with them, not as easily as Arborea does.

I think night moths pollinate them also. And no doubt bees and other bugs that go from flower to flower.

neat shot with the pods. Was something close and blooming the same time as SB?

I've got a Forevermorr and Dr. Seuss blooming in each others arms basically and hoping something will happen. Guess I should get a paint brush out and try my hand at forcing the issue. :)

As far as I can tell none of mine are getting pods, even the ones I pollinated, just how do you know, or how long befor you know if they are forming pods.

If the penducle of the old bloom turns yellowish and drops off, for sure ya ain't gettin a pod ;-(

Some people like to gently squeeze where the old calyx meets the penducle trying to feel something.

I dont do this ,my luck I would injure it and loose the pod.

I hadn't heard that all Snowbank seedlings are albinos, just my luck if that's the case.

I had all sorts blooming around it, CG and Rosamond, and a Rosasond x EP.

I notived I was getting pods once the flower fell (or was pulled out) and the bit at the close end of the stamen was geting bigger, still green stripped and not falling off. These, all of them and so many of them, are such a suprise for me.

I leave this morning for 3 weeks holiday and (shudder) will be with out access to the internet.

On the subject of Snowbank, I just bought an 18" Snowbank and just wondering if it needs any special care. I've read full sun will burn the leaves and not to overwater it. How quickly does this one grow?
