LOL Charlotte! No need to call the fish coroners just yet. :) Of course there are so many plants, I have not seen a fish in two weeks. All I can say, is they better be eating the algae, if not the plant roots because I couldn't get food in if I wanted to! I filled a 55 gallon rubbermaid tote with lettuce and hyacinth yesterday and made a 4x4 or so hole on top of the water, then they started creeping back over. It's like a horror movie I tell you! The water splashing back in, is keeping them at bay. LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ummm, Jerry, I saw plenty of room in that pool of yours! You better behave because I think I could track you down and fill up the pool when you aren't looking. :)

Vb, I have a bunch of lettuce and hyacinths but I mailed them to VA last week and the lettuce do not travel so well when it is 95+. The hyacinths do fine. I will mail them if you want them but have to be honest first.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sparky,

Sounds to me like "Aquatic Sensitive" That is, if it also closes up when you touch the tiny leaves.

Mine is growing like crazy too! Everything. I am in process of thinning back my plants too.

I just set my pond up 3 months ago.

Molly
:^)))

P.S. Evidently I need to watch MORE tv. I immediately jumped to the plant conclusion. No imagination in my corner of the brain. LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL CSI rocks! I love how they show the accident, course of the wound, the *natural process* etc. LOL I guess that is what happens to the kid of a cop. Geeze!

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

Badseed, I sent you a private mail, did you get it? I didn't know if you didn't want to mail at all, or only to those close. I'm in IN, and would love some floaters if you still have some to spare. Jenny

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I did get your mail. Sorry, I have been extremely busy and not spending as much time on the puter. If you want to paypal me the postage, I will mail them to you but as I said above, I won't guarantee the lettuce will get to you in good shape. Your location does give you a better chance but it is supposed to get back up into the 90s here again. Let me know if you still want them. :)

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

Badseed, I'm in the addy exchange. Go ahead and send some...I'll chance it. You are sending hyacinths and lettuce, right? Just let me know how much postage is when you ship, and I'll PayPal you right away. Thanks. Jenny

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

How much do you want? I can do it by the pound or flat rate box.

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

Hi! I used Ebay's shipping calculator. LOL A 5 pound box is only $5.85 to get from you to me. Does that sound ok to you? It doesn't really matter to me, whatever works best for you. ok? Just let me know. Thanks. Jenny

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Let me see how big of a box I can find.

You do realize these multiply like bunnies and are annuals that will not live through the winter?

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

Yes I do. ;o) I have a very large pond, and at this time I don't have any floaters. My koi are not kind....they eat my plants, thus they don't multiply well. LOL I am planning to try to overwinter some hyacinths in my sunroom.....and see how it goes. I've heard of people trying to overwinter in garages without much luck, but better luck in greenhouses. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I don't know how much it would take for 5 lbs.....just send whatever. I just put that figure in to see how pricey it would be to ship....that's all. ;O)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay, I will have to find a box. I mailed out 5 gallon size bags last week or so in a wine box and it still was only about 4 pounds.

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

That's fine. Whatever you can find. ;o) Thanks. Jenny

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Unless you can pick up or live close enough to meet me or have me drop them off, this offer is closed. :)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

drat! missed out again LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Laurrie! You coming to Cincy?

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Nope sorry, wish I were, I just thinned down my pond plants, I had pickerl rush (think that is correct) along with cattails and yellow water iris. I only have one large pink water lily, didn't get any lettuce this year or water hyacinth, but just adore the hyacinth!! Love to see those blooms!!

I had that flooding this past Jan. and it completely engolfed my pond, couldn't see it, totally under flood waters, all my fishies flew the coop so to speak, my snails stayed behind to help with cleanup LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am so sorry! I forgot about the big flood wiping you out. Things are a bit tense at the moment but I can share some water plants with you. :) I'll E you very soon.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh heavens NO, I just chuckle when I remember the day I actually realized that my fish took the chance and escaped on me!!! I had them in that darn pond for 4 years and they were getting huge too. I keep thinking my son Dakota will come up from the creek one day with a gorgeous orange and black fishie and say "look Mom what I caught today!!!!!" LOLOLOLOL

I came out relatively well considering the flooding, most of my non-water plants survived all that water - even the new bulbs from this past fall's co-op were up and blooming their little hearts out for me, they were tough! I didn't know if they had gotten established enough before the water hit, was so worried they would rot but they pulled thru.

Talk later :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am so in awe of your roll with the punches attitude! I know you don't really have a choice, but it is admiral, your outlook. :)

If your son does come home with a big gold fish, you'll have to post! That would be an absolute riot! LOL

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

I know others have been thru worse than I have and more often, just look at those with hurricane's knocking at their front door all the time!!!!!!!!!!! I feel for those folks!

Well Dakota did get him a catfish the other day down at the creek, which is what makes me think that someday we will find one, of course they could have already went way beyond the dam now and onto someone elses back yard to be caught by their little boy LOL

Here is Dakota with his catch, he refused to hold it, didn't want to get stuck LOL

What a cute kid! Nice fish he caught. :) I wouldn't touch it either. Eww!

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

LOLOLOL hey that's what Dad's are for right LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I guess that depends who's house it is. If that were a snake, guess who would be setting it free? LOL Thank goodness we never see rats, cuz snakes and rats are the two things my hubby detests and I don't think I wanna mess with a rat myself. :)

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Close?..... I'm..... at heart, but half way round the earth!

Dinu

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

And big hugs to you Dinu. :)

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Thanks, I can 'feel' it!
