White shadows

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

White petunias don't come high on the list of flowers to be photographed, but I couldn't resist this clump. Notice the mauve shading on the right-hand one.

Then, there's the unfolding of the hosta flowers. Simple but so elegant.

Thank you gals.

Sometimes I wonder if I should be posting pictures on the Photo forum.

Oh for sure. They are certainly good enough to be in that forum. But don't forget to treat us too. :)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I agree. Lovely photos. But don't forget us. I've visited the camera talk forum but not the photo one. Maybe I should. But I would have missed yours if they weren't posted here. ;-)

Joan, I'm a point and shooter over in Alaska, and though I love white flowers, I find them hard to photograph. Overcast days seem better, without the flash, so I know what you mean about the shadowing. This is a photo of 'Swansdown', a somniferum poppy.

Weezingreens, That is stunning and a very good photo. Yes overcast days are good, as well as early morning and evening. I find that I often lose the detail of white fowers.

Yes, when photographed with other plants, the white ones appear as blocks of white for me.

Lovely photo, Weezi. How have you been?

I appreciate the tips from both you gals. And if you have seen my photographs, the reason is obvious. :D

Hi, OFG! I got a new camera last Christmas, and I'm finally starting to learn how to use it... I actually looked at the book! I'm doing much better with closeups now. Digital cameras are such fun and the results are immediate. You can take as many pictures as you like, and no one need know how many ghastly photos you took to get that one good shot! LOL!

Joan has picked up the lighting quite nicely with the hosta bud. I've managed to do that from time to time, but it's always an accident for me!

Weezi, Please, no illusions about my photography skills, I'm still a babe in the woods compared to some I know.

It takes time, triall and error and still you flounder sometimes.

Many of my good shots were accidents. Believe you me.

I think that's how we learn, Joan!

All the photos are lovely.

White - or any other colour. When they're as perfect and as well presented as those petunias, I love to see them.
