I only have this one plant. It is my 'mother plant'.
I am hoping to have seeds later.
I've been waiting all summer for it to bloom, I just had to share!
What a pretty plant, the leaves are huge and fuzzy.
Tibouchina grandiflora
It is beautiful Lisa.
Lisa, mine just started to bloom as well. I love it!!! It's really easy to start from a cutting.
Gorgeous Lisa! Ü I have one that, given my zone, I'll probably see blooms on it next year (it's just starting to take off now even tho we had temps in the low 100's for about 2 weeks in July).
ricfl I'm happy to read it's easy to start cuttings of. :)
Beautiful!
It's gorgeous Lisa. MIne are about 6 ft tall but won't start to bloom for a couple more weeks. Yours is so pretty.
Wow, Lisa, that is a knockout plant. I just got one, and it is about 12 inches tall. Maybe with lots of mulch, water and fertilizer mine will bloom next year, or the year after. Hope mine takes the winter well. It is beautiful.
Lisa,
That is beautiful. Thanks for showing and starting this thread.
Ric, I took a couple cuttings from a customers' plant last fall. They died without making roots. What's your method of success? Customer has offered me more cuttings. She has 2 kinds, fuzzy leaf and smooth leafed ones. I may take some of both.

:^)))
I love this plant. Have one in pot about 5 feet tall and getting ready to bloom. I root my cuttings in vermiculite. Better to do it in warm weather or over heated matts in winter. It will return here from the roots zone 8a but it doesn't get very tall. Have it planted in the ground in several places to test it more. It is one of my favorite plants.
Roz my large potted plant is 3 years old but it grows in the greenhouse in the winter.
Beautiful Lisa.
Regal.
uh oh, Barb, I planted mine in the ground. I thought it would overwinter here. The Ungundense (spelling) overwinters here okay, so I thought maybe this one would too. Do you think I should dig it up? Should I take a cutting off the top and try to root it?
I fell flat at the richness of the blue! Wow!

It is a gorgeous colour, and the soft furry leaves are lovely. I treated myself to a small plant for my new conservatory and it's been flowering for two months non stop.
I didn't know they grew so large, mine is only about 1 ft 6 in and in quite a small pot.
I think I'll try to take some cuttings too. Any more info on this? How big do they need to be, as I don't want to take too much off or it will spoil the plant. Also what kind of compost do they prefer - the stuff it came in is a strange consistency.
