Mr. Boggs' Friends

Bridgewater, MA(Zone 6b)

My cat Mr. Boggs arrived at my home as a garden stray last spring and I took him into the house in September. The cat household up to that point consisted of our 4 Similayans, our "Family Cats", consisting of a mother, father, sister, and brother, who have been together as a unit for almost 14 years now, and one black and white tuxedo, Wolfgang, who I adopted from a sick neighbor when he was a kitten in 1998. Unfortunately, the Similayan family was very reluctant to allow Wolfgang into their fold, and the two younger cats still refuse to make friends with him. For Mr. Boggs, they have been even worse, harrassing him as a pack, following him sneakily, but refusing to play with him or interact with him in a friendly way. They are small and harmless, and Mr. Boggs is very large and sure of himself, so it hasn't been that much of a problem, but he still seems to want to make friends with this tight knit group of cat snobs. My other cat, Wolfgang, is a coward, and has always been positive that Mr. Boggs would like to kill him, and does nothing but spit, runaway, and occasionally smack Mr. Boggs in the face when Mr. Boggs is sleeping. Mr. Boggs usually spends his time in his chair asleep or eating. Lately, I've noticed him hanging around a lot with a stone squirrel and a brass cat plant holder. I think he's finally found the friends he seems to want so badly.
