Flower pics!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Everybody! I've been very busy lately and haven't had time to post, but I did manage to snap a few pictures of some blooms when I had them. Here is my last red that made an appearance on July 24-26.

Here is what they looked like the next day in the heat:

Clare, they are really beautiful! I am glad you were able to make the time to post.
My big Mama is getting ready for fireworks a few days down the road.

Just beautiful Clare! Do I remember correctly that your other one (larger?) had no aroma? And that you had hoped this one would be scented? So happy for you....whata show! Congrats!

And Ursula, looking forward to your Mama with her Show Off Your Stuff spectacular coming up!

No Oxie buds here, but am still getting an occasional pink, red hybrid, with some small buds still coming on. Lots of cuttings going on and hoping some will give me blooms next year.

Thanks, Ursula and Candy!

Ursula, I am excited about your pending fireworks from Big Mama!

Candy, my larger one had a very powerful aroma that you couldn't stick your nose right in because it was so strong, but the fragrance is very sweet. This little flower has a more delicate lemony fragrance that is just lovely. Thanks!

Candy, when blooming is finished for you for sure, let's figure out how many months total of the year that you have blooms. Can't wait to see if your cuttings will give you blooms. I bet they will.

That one is lovely Clare. Do you know the name of it?

Thanks, Marcy. It's a hybrid of Epiphyllum oxypetalum. I bought the original cutting from Glasshouse Works: http://www.glasshouseworks.com/succ-de.html

Just beautiful, Clare! Look at all your awesome tropicals, RUK!

Thanks Donna!! It is a mix of "STUFF", Lc Fire Dance Patricia in the upper picture and there are some Passifloras on the deck which really love the growing conditions this year ( HOT). And my Vanda David Gardner is developing a nice spike.

I wanted to report on the August 2. flowering - it was somewhat unusual. The flowers took a long time to open, they were still not flared out at 11 pm, but the scent was stronger than normal, very enjoyable!! I just looked at my 11 pm pics, most look like repeats of previous flowerings, but I thought I post this one. Taken with Flashlight!!

Beautiful, Ursula! That last one is very artistic. I just love those blooms.

I've got a show pending right now. I've counted 22 so far, but there may be more. Pictures to come...
