EE Refresher Tips?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I read quite some time ago about the difference between the "water" preferences of colocasias vs. alocasias.

Now I am pretty sure alocasias don't like wet feet since I just rotted Polly. (I didn't do it by choice, we had a lot of rain this early summer)

My main question for today, please tell me which EE's like really wet feet. You know, the ones you have in your bog etc? Do Illustris and Black Magic fall into bog category?

Thanks,
Molly

Most Colocasia like the water. In my trough (bathtub I think you called it! LOL), I have Black Magic, Illustris, Nancy's Revenge, Red Stem and I believe some others.

That prissy Polly and Amazonica are just houseplants for me. :(

I have to get this together too since I am suddenly ordering them like crazy!

Molly, my loan got approved! Deciding if I want that one or possibly a different one (waiting for the other guy to get back with me).

Chele!!!!

That is wonderful news! I am so happy for you. Now when you get over there, you'll tell me what I can send you to start your new gardens with, right?

Ely,

You live up north, what's the odds of you getting to the KY RU?

I don't think I should be trusted with another Polly. 2 died this month. I better let you keep them alive for now. But thanks for the offer.

Chelle, are you getting a new house??? With big gardens???
Molly, don't feel bad, I've killed a bunch of alocasias(like Polly, Amazonica, Purple Prince, Elaine, Green Shield, Black Velvet.........the list goes on and I'm so ashamed to admit it). I have Alocasia Mac, Portadora, Metalica Crispa, Black Stem and Plumbea Nigra that I haven't killed, they are actually much easier than some of the other varieties and will forgive you if you overwater them.

We've been approved for loans but not said yes yet. It is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house on 7.28 acres about 45 minutes from where I live now. :)

How exciting Chellie! Are you going to move the greenhouse you worked so hard to put up? You will need a moving van just for your plants!! Congratulations on more space for all the kiddos!

Ely, can you tell me does the ALOCASIA Macrorrhiza Variegata take alot of water. I will get 4 or 5 nice leaves then I will loose 2 or 3. I do have couple of pups on it. I usually give it about 2 gal. of water daily that has been sitting for at lease 24 hours. I keep it in the shade, I haven't been feeding it, maybe this is what I'm doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Since I don't think Molly would strangle me, here is a pic for Susie and Mel.

This is the front yard. Bwahahahahaha Hey Susie, think you can come help me lay out the beds?? LOL

Here is the other half of the *front yard*. I think a commercial size greenhouse would fit over there just perfect!
