Well, I have it bad!! My first lotus has bloomed. Does anyone know where I could purchase lotus seeds? I just have to give it a try!! I know that seeds are not true to the parent plant but still want to try. Thanks, Melanie

My sister got me six seeds from the local florist. But please any information on starting these things will be very helpful, since you are the expert. I have researched them but still will need help. Do you think that it is to late in the season to try and stat them? I am in zone 7b. Thanks, Melanie
Melanie, I take a file and file away at the hard seed shell/coating, just a little slice into it is all you need, enough that the water can get into it, then I just drop them into a bucket of water, won't be long and you will see little white "spider" looking roots sticking out - after that it will send up a green shoot to the surface of the water. Takes them awhile from seed, but I love them, and love the smell of this all over the place yellow one here :)
