what kind of ginger is this?

It has beautiful blooms. A hanging racime and each flower looked like the one in the photo. not fragrant. can you name? I had never seem it blooming before, make me think of an upside down floxglove.

Its the regular shell ginger alpinnia speciosa, I love the flower clusters on this type..look like orchid flowers.

i don't think so. my neighbor does nothing to them and they thrive inground in shade. maybe we can trade? she's given me some, more than enough for just me.

Ely, the shell gingers here get 10ft tall and have clusters of flowers over a foot long, they are soooooo pretty!

just tonight I attended a lecture on gingers where they showed a slide of this striped one. WOWZERS, beautiful
