Tropical or Hardy?

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

I'm assuming this is a tropical waterlily? I got several waterplants from a lady on Ebay, and let me tell you.....she doesn't know how to lable plants. So I'm trying to figure out what some of this stuff is. I'm assuming since this is more like a "nut" than a tuber.....this is a division of a tropical waterlily?

If it IS a lily...then it is definately tropical. Hardy lily have more of a rhizome instead of a round tuber.

I guess the best way to describe it....is kinda like a big nut....like a walnut.....I think it came off of one of the lilies I got on Ebay....but I dont' know if it was one of the tropical ones or hardy ones. Jenny

Sure looks like the Tropical lily tubers I find in my pond with little bitty plants growing out of them.

tropical tuber...........will send out roots right at the top of the tuber, where the leaf emerges.
