Impatiens

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

I have my impatiens in container they seem a little leggy and yellow. What wrong with the impatiens? Few blooms also. They recieve half sun in the morning.

Too much sun? Drainage not good? My impatiens in morning sun looked like that so I moved them to more shade and they are getting leaves again.

They could probably benefit by cutting them back a little, too. And remember that container plants - especially if watered a lot - need some light feeding more often than plants grown in the soil.

HOW MUCH DO I CUT BACK?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey guys, Do they do well in October and November in San Anton, Tx? Do they came back in spring or they will die out, or Will i have to buy more impatiens?

I wouldn't cut them back too severely, but a trim of maybe 1/3 should help. I can't speak w/knowledge re San Antonio, but depending on the weather, I sometimes see them blooming in the Houston area well into December. It's when you get a good frost that they go bad. Some people take cuttings before the first frost and root them over the winter inside. They're inexpensive enough that most people just buy new bedding plants.
