Updated pictures!

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

I just wanted to post some pictures to liven up the joint...hope you don't mind! These are the ones I posted earlier and the flowers have opened up much more. I went out of town this weekend and came back to find a show! Hope everyone had a good Monday. :) Susanne

This is the first plant that I posted on the 'new pictures' thread. Some are coming out double, some single. Very small delicate blooms.

And lastly, this is a picture which illustrates why av's are so interesting to me. Across the room from each other, I thought these were the 'same ole' violet...but next to each other they really are both unique and beautiful! Anyone else have blooms? I'd love to see them! I think its safe to say, yall got me addicted.

Oo oo and today I stopped by Lowes today to see if they had any mini's in with the new shipment they told me they'd be getting. No mini's but every av that was from the old shipment, good looking or bad, was 50c! I got 6 more....It's just so painless for 3.25!!

Hey Susanne,
Beautiful African voilets, but they don't compare to you in your wedding dress.
Take care Sweetie,
Patti

Thanks yall! I didn't see yall posting before the last one. Knew there had to be some night owls around. Ms. C I'm pretty sure you got leaves from the first two.

Aww thank you Patti! Everyone's up tonight :) I'm going to buy it sometime in August...I'm excited!

Wow -- those AV's are really putting on a show for you! Gorgeous!

That second one seems almost to be a standard sized version of the "NOID" with girl foliage that I've been calling "rosie girl" or "pink girl." I'm pretty sure mine is a semimini, as I've had it for more than a year and it hasn't grown out much beyond its 4 inch pot.

It sure is amazing what you can find at Home Depot or Lowe's -- and for 50 cents! I think you showed great restraint in bringing home only 6!

:-)

Here's my "rosie girl" -- doesn't it look similar?

Wow, you guys! I'm so jealous. These are so beautiful.

MsC--I bought the kind of fertilizer you told me to get, so am now awaiting the miracles I am going to be seeing soon. The plants look good, just no flowers yet. I know that closing them into that little greenhouse really started them down the right path.

We'll look forward to seeing pictures of them in full bloom, Diane!

Any minute now! Right?

Susanne, I hope I got that first one.. it is just stunning!
The pink well... I buy every pink or purple one I see...I'm really addicted..lol

That was a super fined...my local garden shops don't ever mark plants down. If they do the meployees hoard them off...can't blame them, I would too.:)

I love the purple one one the right of your pic.. it looks very similar to one I had and it was a blooming fool. It got huge, one of the first ones I ever bought . It also survived my care! Sad but,it did not survive the Chi Herd...lol

Most of my minis are looking really good and I have separated a few babies off and I'm hoping they take root.

I see if I can post some pics of my trailers, they aren't grown all that well, but you can get the idea . I have to resize the pics so it will take a bit to get them posted.

Diane,
You should see blooms in about 10-14 days between improving the lights and the fertilizer. The green house should help tons too.

OK, the countdown is on. ;^)

Wow those do look similar critter! I didn't know yours was smaller though, I recall seeing it on another thread. Mine is like a freak of nature its so big- each leaf is about 3 1/2 inches. Rosie girl is a good name for yours! Gorgeous blooms.

If not Ms C, I'd be glad to send you some, and anyone else too. I'm gonna be in the need (hehe) to trade in the near future! I'll send you one of those little purples too- its funny how av's don't stand up to running dogs. :)

Careful Diane....they got you!!

Susanne you are right about AV's not standing up to puppy play, but their antics got me a new plant stand so all is well.

They are all beauties and the girl foliage types are such a challenge for me to grow. I have one that has blue flowers and very dark green leaves w a red reverse. So far It is keeping it's shape nicely but it hasn't rebloomed yet.

Yeah, Susanne, I know.
