Butterflies!

Circle Pines, MN(Zone 4b)

Caught these two beauties on my echinacea this morning - got a couple photos before the resident stray cat came over to check things out and scare them away...

My modem went out before I could upload the second shot, but it is fixed now so here it is!

wow even better

Gosh, to have either of those in the garden is a real treat. To have them both at the same time and close enough to get them into one pic.....WOW! That must've been really fun for you! :-)

I was thrilled. I usually see the yellow swallowtails, but this was my first black one - and you are right. To get close enough to take a photo, then seeing there was a monarch there really made my day. I must have taken half a dozen photos!

Mc Call Creek, MS

Great shots! Two kinds of butterflies in one shot is wonderful!

Very nice indeed, Zarebeth. :-)

Got a couple more today - a yellow swallowtail, a Painted Lady, and some kind of Frittilary (I think). I will have to upload them as soon as I get a chance... that swallowtail has been flirting with me all week - when I have my camera he is nowhere to be seen, and when I don't or can't get to it easily he is right there!

Dry Ridge, KY(Zone 6a)

Great shot. 2 for the price of one!

Not exactly sure what this is - some kind of Fritillary?

Beautiful pictures.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

wow, you've got a nice variety going there MN.
I've had a few drivebys recently then today someone rang the dinner bell. With all the flowers blooming in the yard, it seemed like the harlequin butterfly bush and one stand of phlox is all they were interested in.

all the pics are great but thats a killer shot on the zinnia. That'd be another 8x10 in my guest room.

I especially loved that shot of the Tiger getting right down into the Rose to feed.

Saw a Great Spangled Fritillary today! My first one! He didn't cooperate so I didn't get a great photo, but we will see how it turns out when I download it...

Dover, NJ

Those are awesome shots Zarebeth. I really liked the tiger on the red zinnia!!!

Hi Zarebeth--those are wonderful pics of your butterfly visitors. It looks like you offer quite a buffet of great nectar flowers. The butterflies must love it. t.
