Problem with sizing windows

HI, I know, switch to Foxfire, but DH doesn't want to, so what can I do!! Anyway, recently when I open a new window, it is smaller and I have to either click the maximize button at the upper right corner or click & drag it to the full window size. It used to open full window size. Don't know what happened. Does anyone know how to fix it, so that when I click on a new window, that it will open full size of the screen?
