Winnipeg is very busy these days. We are still recovering from Folk Festival and now are in the middle of the Fringe Festival - new plays and activities for the kiddos.
Yesterday (Sunday) we were treated to the solar powered cars (& one hydrogen car) that are racing (?) from Austin Texas to Calgary. (You can see them in Moose Jaw, Pam). Started in Texas. Cars built by various University students. We are very proud that our Red River Community College is competing with the likes of Stanford, Texas A&M, MIT, McMaster etc. No photos of course. Duh. Street decorations. Bears on Broadway. Such fun. They are huge cement bears painted by diff. artists. Like them better than Victoria whales or Toronto moose from a few years ago. Scattered around on downtown boulevards.

Been years since I was at one of Winnpeg's Folk Festivals (remember having a fantastic time).
The bears are a great feature for the summer. The tourists really like them.
Just had a little longer look at the bear pics......they are fantastic! Ü
i spent a while earlier today looking at those bears. It's hard to pick a favourite one, there are a few in the running. Thanks Ginny for that. Last year Victoria had Orcas, same sculpture but different themes. For those of you that were here for the RU, there was one outside of the Butterfly gardens.
Love the bears. My fav was Snow angel - The Honour Bear.
hey Ginny, the cars came thru Sioux Falls, SD too! They were on display at Falls Park over a two day period last week. DH saw some of them on the road (one broke down - or out of sun? lol) but I only saw a support vehicle - they had an AM flag flying from one window and CAN from the other - thought that was neat! Stopped next to me at a red light so I wished them a safe journey, etc. etc.
U of North Dakota has/(had?) a hydrogen car. It continually broke down so don't know if it is still on the road. It was a green one, designed quite differently from the solar cars.
